Recently, a friend of mine received an e-mail from this company.

"WordofMouthConnection.com Search Awareness System

This email is a website-generated message, but it is not spam.

An acquaintance of yours recently conducted a search on your email address in our online community, WordofMouthConnection.com. It could be a friend, a family member, co-worker, business associate, or someone else who's interested in learning more about you.

Why are we sending you this email?

When people find out others are talking about them -- whether it is good or bad -- they want to know. At WordofMouthConnection.com, we feel responsible to alert people so they have an opportunity to find out what is being said."

I logged on to the site to see what it was about because my friend was wary of logging in under their own e-mail address. You can see a report was made by someone.

"E-MAIL ADDRESS ********** (deleted for my friends protection)
CONNECTION TYPE I Have Information
HOW WELL DO YOU KNOW SUBJECT Well
YOUR RELATIONSHIP TO SUBJECT Decline To State
WHEN DID YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH SUBJECT OCCUR Within Last Year"

There is a link to click to anonomously contact the anonomous person to find out what information they have. Here's what you get when you click...

"Power Users are allowed to contact and communicate one another through WordofMouthConnection.com's proprietary system, which protects and keeps private the personal information of each and every user.

This way, you never know who is behind the door, so to speak. But the benefit of that is, many times, the person behind the door is there only because they feel comfortable knowing their privacy is ensured. And that provides you with the opportunity to connect with them to discuss their past experiences with your research subject, helping you better and more informed decisions.

We currently offer two levels of Power User membership -

One year - $19.97
Two year - $29.97 (BEST VALUE)"

My question to all of you out there, Have you received an e-mail such as this? Have you registered? I e-mailed this site to ask why they would not allow the person who is being reported to see what is being said without charge and be able to rebut to whatever is said. I will update if I get a return e-mail. This makes me very suspicious, maybe they have just picked names off an e-mail list to get people curious enough to sign up?

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated.
THANK YOU!
