did you know that the site is up for donations now? and if u donate your name gets in big red or orange letters (woopty doo) and you access to games etc? apparently they way its set up is to be auto renewed automatically through paypal, and it doesnt tell u that up front, and many MANY people were being charged every month and had no idea.

The saddest thing is that the "threat" she is speaking of is that I advised her that if she continued to email and harass me that I would take legal action....This woman is truly sad.

I definitly agree with the people who have tasted the wrath of DAISY, because I was just banned tonight. Why? Because I didn't agree with the group who decided to throw the sentence: You know you have a ghetto custy if-Blah, Blah, Blah, around as if it was OK.
All I stated was that the term is offensive to some people, and maybe a better word could have been used. I also said that I like to choose my words so that I myself are not offensive to others as well. I wrote this as just my opinion because, I know that I can't make anyone think any kind of way or make anyone agree with me, but I can't just let someone play around with the word and not understand that it may be offensive to others just in case they didn't understand. Well, I don't know why I did that, because I was accused of being the usual ever used OVER-SENSITIVE label by some other posters and Ms. Daisy also. Well I discovered when I logged back in to read the other messages that the THANKS button was missing from my posts but not anyone elses after Ms. Daisy decided to lock out and discontinue the post, which as administrator is her right to do, but what got me was the missing thanks button on my posts and no others, so I dared to question her about it in a private pm and yes I told her that I didn't think it was right and that this would not be right just because I didn't agree with others point of view with name calling. She said that sometimes the button disappears. OK, but only on mine? She then told me that I had went to far in saying that she did anything wrong, Blah, Blah, Blah ect. The WPLH forum isn't a good place to spend your time unless you have time to waste. Just my opinion. There are better boards out there where you can get accurate information on work-at-home jobs in a non-politically biased format. If you're a democrat, stay away from this place. The owner, Daisy, is a real doozie. The site is full of negativity, misinformation, and it's just a daily bashing of people in the news (mostly democrats) and whatever else this woman can come up with. Negative, negative, negative. She obviously doesn't understand how to get donations, lol. The work at home companies she supports are pretty much all the same... low pay, no pay, missing pay, few hours, no hours, here today, gone tomorrow, and you can't share the details of your experience with other members or she'll post a warning essentially telling you to keep your mouth shut. Like I said, she's a real doozie and on the side of the companies she promotes.

Dewski, while I understand your anguish over the allegations made toward you it is unfortunate that a privately owned website does that the right to do pretty much as they please. I remember your incident vaguely and thought it was just another useless petty drama to get people fired up and give them useless purpose.

As in your incident and a recent other one, I was pmed out of the blue by a moderator and told all the dirt. I do not even talk to those people but they saw me reading their venom for my daily chuckle and began to tell me about this other person. I was laughing my butt off since I had seen the emails sent by the admins to this other gal and they were the filthiest garbage I had seen in ages. But since they could not gain a response from that member they took it to the pms and boards.

It is unfortunate that this site will never be respected by professionals as a resource but more as a place to laugh at the comments of their members.

Dewski, regardless of what your belief system is, or what you believe, you can be banned by the owner of any privately run website - for any reason in the world. It doesn't have to be a legit reason, it doesn't have to be true. It sucks, but then so does life sometimes. People who post there could lie all they want and say you make love to farm animals, preferably goats, and you not only can't sue them for slander, but if you try and respond, they have the right to take down your rebuttal post indicating you prefer humans. If you can't abide by the terms and conditions they make (and they usually include the right to take down any post they wish), you're screwed - plain and simple. Deal with it. You have no 1st Amendment Right; what you are experiencing is the right for anyone to censor stuff on their website, which is quite legal.

I am affiliated with another consumer-oriented website and the site has been sued a number of times by companies thinking that they were being slandered, just as this website has been sued. The judge in the case ruled for our website, citing the parties on the website were anonymous enough to not be harmed in anyway - moreover, none of the businesses who claim slander could prove damages. Truth has little to do with anything in these cases.... BTW - the moderators at our site have had to ban some people due to their consistent violations of the T&C's. It's not the most ideal resolution to a problem child, but it is the most efficient.

If you've been banned - that's your tough luck. Stop obsessing about the rights you don't have that are being violated and move along.

For the owners of a message board to violate the Constitution? The First Amendment says that Congress cannot make laws that infringe upon our right to free speech (at least in theory).

That does not apply to private message board owners. They can absolutely control what is posted on their board.

The OP is guaranteed the RIGHT to free speech. He or she is not guaranteed a platform.

WPLH certainly welcomes everyone who doesn't use its FREE PRIVATE boards as a weapon to abuse and harass others. Its obvious from the posts here that the people who have a problem with WPLH have anger issues and should probably make a appt. for meds or counselling very soon. WPLH is a wonderful resource for work-at-home jobs and other information. It is run very professionally and moderated fairly. I was Banned on the "say so" of one of the chat moderators, that was asked a question on certain company proceedures, the information she imparted was incorrect and when I submitted the correct proceedure and offered to provide "proof" as to the validity of my claim SHE stated that I HAD posted inormation that was in violation of TOS( I did NOT post anything, only stated that if necessary, I COULD provide proof, but never stated as to how that information would be exchanged.) I stayed in contact with several other people on the board/chat and over the following days was told that others that had challenged this same moderator or dared to state a difference of opinion were banned from the site as well.

I have submitted several requests to the site to have any and all of my activities while on the site reviewed so as to have my "bann" reconsidered as it was unfair...
Give some people a little power and they will squash ANYONE who dares to opposed, inform or educate them to methods or opinions other than their own.

I was Banned on the "say so" of one of the chat moderators, that was asked a question on certain company proceedures, the information she imparted was incorrect and when I submitted the correct proceedure and offered to provide "proof" as to the validity of my claim SHE stated that I HAD posted inormation that was in violation of TOS( I did NOT post anything, only stated that if necessary, I COULD provide proof, but never stated as to how that information would be exchanged.) I stayed in contact with several other people on the board/chat and over the following days was told that others that had challenged this same moderator or dared to state a difference of opinion were banned from the site as well.

I have submitted several requests to the site to have any and all of my activities while on the site reviewed so as to have my "bann" reconsidered as it was unfair...
Give some people a little power and they will squash ANYONE who dares to opposed, inform or educate them to methods or opinions other than their own.

WPLH is definitely one weird a** place. Far as I can tell, its just a watering hole for bitter housewives with PMS to come discuss pointless topics and dribble on about their empty lives. They've all got their heads shoved so far up each other's arses (especially the mods) that its hard to tell where one ends and the other begins!

And watch out if you dare say something that goes against someone's opinion: they'll be on you like s***k on a hooker. H*ll seems like you can't ask a simple question without a thread turning into a fight about something stupid. Not to mention the spelling and grammar. It is easy to see why these women are forced to work at home.

You're absolutely correct, there is no freedom of speech at wplh. The 1st ammendment might not cover this very bizarre place. I did find it lucicrous that ArmyWifey, in favor of the OMG!! we're BFF!! mommie girlfriends rule, cha!! wplh weirdos proposed that the drafters of the constitution didn't have wplh, or virtual message boards, in mind when they wrote the constitution. Whoa, that's some lame posturing coming from someone who defines herself as "armywifey",probably has nothing else going for her but her armyhubbie.

The Supreme Court has been judiciously working at interpreting the constitution for 200 years, it was written in such a way that it can't be pinned down. Ya know armywifey Plessy vs Ferguson was justly over turned 75 years later by Brown vs The Board of Education which happened to be argued by the NAACP's star attorney Thurgood Marshall who later became a Supreme Court Justice, the 1st American of African descent mind you. I think armywifey ought to leave interpretation of the constitution to those who actually have a life outside of their armywifey marriage & the wplh msg board. Am taking Web Design fall semester & I've found sites for setting up your own websites so maybe I'll start a work at home board for grownups next year. If I do, I hope to see you there Dewski because freedom of speech will be encouraged as long as it isn't verbally abusive,threatening, name calling, or vulgar. And if I don't like your opinion well tough noogies on me; it's an opinion for crying out loud! Everybody is entitled to their opinion even if I don't agree.

You should see half the stuff they have said about you in a thread. Supposely you threatened her. I honestly dont believe a word that comes out of half their mouths over there. Yeah they had me banned as well. And why? Because all I did was ask repetitive questions. I think that hardly qualifies for banning someone. I mean people can forget that they posted the same question. DUH! All I did was ask a question and that Daisy made fun of one of my responses. I sent her a pm saying that I did not think that was very nice to make fun of someone's post and she replies back with a nasty message.

Also I contacted Connie regarding this and she said that I was rude. And she also said that since Daisy was the co-owner, that it wasn't very nice of me to contact her behind Daisy's back. And then everybody on the board gang's up on me. And Daisy told me to apologize. Whatever.

I never was once rude to any of these people. I was always grateful for their help. And they were nice at first until they get sick and tired of you asking questions. They said that everybody had bent over backwards to help me and that I was unappreciative. I felt so attacked. And that is not true. I was always grateful for their help. And I always thanked them. I frequent those boards..actually on a daily basis. What you also did not post on this site were the threats of physical harm made towards the owners of the board. You keep throwing out the first amendment...Do you truly know what it means? It was made to hold the government in check...not a privately owned board. Freedom of speech does not apply to something private. You could not use the first amendment to come into my house and state what you believe to be correct. I would throw you out on your arse. No one is denying you the right to your opinions, however, you did go off topic, and Daisy chose to stop you. It is HER house. I could not go on those boards and state things that may or may not be offensive to others. I would get banned as well. You have the right to make a website of your own and post whatever you choose on there. that would be YOUR house, and you would have the right to say ok, you are banned. I would LOVE to see the post that got me banned. You can't produce the post that supposedly violated the TOS at ALL, because it never happened. You are mistaken. There is no right to free speech on ANY WEBSITE unless you are the OWNER of the website - ESPECIALLY a FREE website.

It might be different if this were a subscription/pay website. Then you might have a possible "breach of contract" depending on the terms of service for such a pay website.

However, on a free website, you use it at the pleasure of the domain owner.

If you want to express your "right to free speech" on the internet, simply buy a domain name and pay for hosting, or set up your own servers.

The rule you broke is that you posted something that violated the T&C's of operating within that site, and the moderators don't agree with you. Generally, the T&C's of the site allow the moderator or owner of the site to ban someone for just about any reason. Every site is run differently, and the moderators and/or owner of the site will vary in tolerance of what is allowed on any site. In other words - they can ban you if they choose to.

Let's be clear about another thing:

You do NOT have a First Amendment Right of Free Speech on a privately run message board. There have been cases on this issue, and courts have ruled in favor of the owner restricting users speech rights, IF the site is privately run (if it is a public website, like a dot.gov site, the 1st amendment would apply in such a case because the government owns the site and they have to comply with the constitutional guarantees made in the 1st Amendment). The fact that a privately owned site is seen by the public does not make the site a public website either; that argument has been tried as well. Accordingly, your claims of 1st Amendment violations are not correct, not relevant, and not applicable.

If you decide to be on a privately run messsage board, you MUST abide by their Terms and Conditions, in the same way we all have to here. For example, a user cannot post anything offensive to another on THIS site, otherwise a moderator can prevent the posting from appearing. If you disagree with the T&C's of the site - you have a choice: (1) you can decide not to participate on the site and go elsewhere, or (2) you can take your chances and hope you won't be banned.

This is not a rip-off and not a legitimate complaint.

I have been a member on the WPLH board since 2005. The moderators keep the service free to assist others in securing legitamit work at home jobs. The board is private owned but again it is free. I beleive that without WPLH, I and many others would not have been able to find the jobs that we so desperately need to feed our families and pay our bills.

They have provided VERY useful info on how to avoid scams! Again, this service is FREE

I have never felt that my 'Freedom of speech' has ever been violated. Quite the contrary. I have been able to express what I feel and think as long as I respect the rights of others. There are rules just like with any public board and if the rules are violated, you will be removed. However, this in not done without warning. The author of the Ripoff report had been warned that if she continued to violate the rules, that she would be banned.

I am a member at WPLH, and have found the rules and moderators to be more than fair. It is a place for light hearted conversation, job information and alot of help to those of us working from home. The rules are not restrictive, I believe they are meant to keep arguing to a minimum, keeping the atmosphere friendly to all. It is a place to find support, not to have to read someones contriversial views on very touchy subjects that have no place on a board about finding employment and supporting eachother. In this particular instance, the person was warned to tone down and this person clearly was not looking to have a light hearted conversation, but to stir the pot. I feel that the moderators gave fair warning and had no other choice but to enforce them for the sake of the community as a whole. This is not a "rip off" but another case of sour grapes.

Over 200 years ago when our founding fathers added the First Amendment to the Bill of Rights I seriously doubt they intended it to protect any individual's rights when posting on a privately owned 21st century internet based message board.

WPLH is a well run board that provides great information and peer support to at home workers and freely rolls out the welcome mat to all who come there as long as they abide by the very reasonable rules.

Workplacelikehome.com is a FREE, privately owned message board that is a valuable tool for the individual looking to work from home and for the individual that is already working from home.
When anyone decides to join a free, privately owned message board there are rules that you have to abide by. We at Workplacelikehome.com, the Owners, Administrators and Moderators, have to occasionally make decisions regarding the comments of some members in order to keep the board itself running smoothly without conflict. The right to "Freedom of Speech" does not apply in this situation just like it doesn't in someones business or home. If you join someones free, privately owned message board you have to abide by their rules.

We have rules and regulations that a member agrees to when they request to join. If those rules are violated the Owner(s) have the right to revoke the membership. That is what happened in Dewski's case.
