I want to at least put the word out even though I won't get any money back. World Technology Corporation or aka World Technology Education of 7345 McWhorter Place, Annandale, Virginia.

I signed up for two classes to prepare me for Oracle DBA and Developer Certification tests. The combined cost was around $2400.00 Certainly less than others and half the cost of some. They told me they were intensive classes to train for the cert. tests.

I had little money and no job so I thought the classes were a godsend. Thought! They rip-ed me off. Steal a man's last penny.

Problems surfaced almost immediately. PCs failed to work and the instructors were not qualified to teach. They were barely 22 years old with little experience. The school staff insisted on using out of date books until I got together with several other students and complained to the business manager. She persisted and finally relented so we at least had up to date books for the DBA. We were into Oracle 8 by then and I recall they wanted to use books 4 years out of date, Oracle 6 I think..

The business manager argued with us that they did not agree to train us for DBA exam but it was in black n white on the website. But she said it wasn't in the contract.

This was supposed to be an 8 week intensive and the instructor let us go early several times. He had "nothing to say" he said. He never even covered all the material required for the DBA exam much less prepared us for it. At 8 weeks end I could not take the test cause I was not prepared and had not covered a lot of the material.

The development course was worse. The instructor only knew PL/SQL and was only willing to teach this. Finally the whole development class went to the business manager and they canned the current teacher after 5 weeks and cancelled class for two weeks and then got another after a month who was worse than the first. She just flipped the pages working the problems shown and said now press F4, enter the number 34.5, etc ... just as the book text was written. She taught nothing. Finally at 8 weeks they said the class was over. ?

I asked for my money back and didn't get it. I contacted the Fairfax Co. government but got no help. I contacted Oracle and got one email but then nothing. They used the Oracle logo and materials from the official website to advertise their services. I wrote letters to WTC but got no where. I called the corporations owner several times but he never returned calls. They said he was in India after they found out what I wanted. right.

They failed to train me and refused to refund my money.

They made all sorts of promises in the ads and in person which they did not follow through on. computers for us to practice on, certification training, cert. sample tests, retake of course if we didn't pass, up todate materials, reduced costs for cert exams, etc... They never trained us nor gave us what they promised.

The business manager was a Korean woman who argued on every issue. The teachers and owner were from India.

They may have moved shop to another location but I could not find it. I noted there is a korean business at the same address so be careful.

There is also an india business at www.worldtechindia.com doing business in data entry. This is the same outfit but they are not in training.

I was a poor out of work programmer and they took my money when I was hoping to make a fresh start of it with new DBA technologies by Oracle. I am still out of work. It takes a special kind of person to take money from naive students trying to learn a career.

What such places do is rip you off anf string you along hoping you give up and let them keep the money and that the county government doesn't act against them until it is too late.

I borrowed the funds from my aging parents and WTC blew my chance at a DBA career.

What can I say?. Sometimes when you steal it hurts people.
