I got a call on my way home from a girl.  She said I was automatically entered for a Dream Rewards program through a credit card; she went on to name the typical major credit cards and banks.

I was then told I qualified for a later drawing in the sweepstakes for $50,000, which would take place next May.  But, for having qualified, I have won two free tickets ("valued up to $1600!").  She went on to go through the magazine subscription schpiel.  I was then transfered on to a "supervisor".  As usual, they try to talk it up (asking how the other person was, etc) to get your mind off of actually thinking about what they're doing.  He reiterated the "up to $1600 value" of the tickets, which made me more suspicious.

After confirming my choices of magazines, he asked me for a credit card number.  I told him I was driving and would not be home for 30-45 minutes (I was actually 5 minutes from home).  He said he would call be in an hour.  That gave me time to research the "Publishers Services" name I was first given.  As I thought, scam scam scam.  I also checked on the number that came up on my phone - it was registered to some piddly company that had nothing to do with what they said.  Also, no credit cards/banks seemed to be affiliated with this program - again, as suspected.  I waited for the call-back and asked again for the name of the company - he had quickly asked if I had that credit card number ready.  He gave a different business name of "Worldwide Readers".  I was on my computer waiting, so I punched it in and saw all of the scam/fraud alerts.  They are still at.
