First let me say, I am very disappointed I have to describe my experience on this website.  I have used Wrightway Moving Co. out of Dallas several times before with a good experience.

But this time was very different.  I believe I have used the company 3 times myself previously and referred business as well.  As of today that stops.

The owner, Eric, ended up violating his own contract, unfairly overcharging me, and most unbelievably he cussed me out and threatened my life.  He called me a stupid motherf*r, said "I'm going to kick your a*s, and give the phone back to my f*ing employee because I don't want to f*ing talk to you".

I could not believe how unprofessional and childish he acted toward me.  His secretary Tanya had to apologize on his behalf. This is how it happened....

The original agreement for moving was negotiated at a flat rate (not-to-exceed) of $127.50 and the use of 2 movers (employees of wrightway).  They showed up with 3 movers and a contract stating $75/hour.  Although I did not see the contract until we arrived at my storage unit.  All said and done the total became $282.50.

Long story short is that I had lost my job a few weeks back and my girlfriend agreed to pay for the move.  My girlfriend and I were taking separate cars to the storage unit where my items where to be dropped at because we both had additional personal items in our cars.  On the way she was rear ended by an uninsured motorist and was forced to stay at the scene 20 miles from my storage close to our beginning point in rush hour traffic.  She could not make it out to the storage as she was dealing with the police, fire dept., etc.  Meanwhile I had arrived at the storage about 20 minutes after the 3 wrightway moving co. employees had arrived.  At this point it was around 5:45.  I guess the delay caused the employees to panic, thinking I wasn't going to show/pay, and they called Eric - the owner of the company.

When I got there the employees refused to unload my personal items and they told me to call Eric.  So I did.  This is where it gets BAD!  (Eric had informed his employees not to unload my items to my storage unit until they received payment.  I COULD NOT BELIEVE I was treated this way considering I have been a paying customer of theirs for years and have used their services multiple times before!!  He violated his own contract, because it states payment is due upon "actual delivery" - as where the items are placed securely in my storage unit. NEVER before has wrightway moving requested that I pay before the items where "actually delivered".)

I called Eric, told him my girlfriend had gotten into an accident and asked if she could pay over the phone.  He then became extremely rude and angry told me that he, "didn't like people dictating to him how to run his company".  I replied it was simply a question.  From this point on he acted very unprofessionally and talked condescendingly to me.  And the level of his verbal degradation only increased.

He finally said yes but would not allow my property to be delivered until payment was cleared.  This direction violated his own contract and ended up costing me nearly an extra $100! He made her jump through a bunch of hoops by making her take pictures of both sides of her debit card and ID and send picture texts of these items.  Which is fine, but as you can imagine this took some time, and after several call between him and myself, as well as my girlfriend.  And after him waiting for the card to clear (I'm sure at his leisure), it took over an hour.  I could not believe he was treating me this way considering, once again, we were long-time, paying customers!  And that he had no compassion that my girlfriend had just been in a car accident!

This is where it gets UGLY!  During this hour long period he instructed his employees not to unload my things, all the while I/my gf am being charged by the hour at a rate of $75/hr.  They just sat their doing nothing. - Except the head worker was also getting an earful from an irate and out of control Eric.  Eric was actually yelling at the employee when the employee handed the phone to me.  I told Eric that I was on the phone and he acknowledged my presence on the phone and that is when he called me a stupid motherfukcer, said "I'm going to kick your a*s, and give the phone back to my fukcing employee because I don't want to fukcing talk to you".

Eric lost complete control, threatened my life, and made a terroristic threat to me.  I am considering pressing terroristic threat charges, which is a felony.  I am still a bit concerned for my safety.  Really. He was out of control.

ANYWAY. As promised the payment was made successfully.  Just like the multiple times before. Thanks to my wonderful girlfriend who was there for me in my time of need.  After all this he finally allowed his employees to unload my stuff and to end the awful experience.

I talked to him subsequently, a few days after the move - so I could cool down to retain my professionalism while expressing my dissatisfaction with the way he handled the situation and dealing with me.  He ended up denying any wrong doing, threatening me with a slander lawsuit when I told him I was going to report him to consumer advocacy groups and the BBB.  And finally hung up on me when I called back!!

Well Eric, I feel sorry for your employees that they have to deal with you and for your family members especially.  May God bless you with more wisdom, patience, and faith in both Him and your loyal/(no longer loyal) customers.

Other Consumers
