This website www.rental-data.com is a database that republishes freely obtained house listings from off the internet and charges renters an undisclosed $35 to see their database. I joined this website thinking that it had exclusive listings. I had exhausted all of our other leads. We looked at Google, Kijiji, the classifieds, property managements, craigslist and rentals.com. In finding this website we thought we were fortunate to have found a site that has new information, after all we saw homes on there we hadn't found before. They use a phony bait and switch tactics by listing enticing properties in their ads that do not exist on the database once you become a member. They also don't disclose is the actual costs. They tell you it is $16 for the first month and $19 thereafter. However, my card was charged $35 dollars for just the first month. They also don't disclose that a fee of $10 will be charged for each area and preference you change to meet your criteria. It is common practice to change your preferences when you cannot find what you are looking for. Except on this website you will be charged to do so. Before making your payment you get to choose your preferences and the areas in which you are looking. After your payment is made you are told that each preference change will cost you $10. The first time you add your preferences are free after that they charge. For example (taken off the website itself) the Housing Type Preferences - $10.00 to change, Rent Preferences (how much are you wanting to pay for a place) - $10.00 to change, Metro Zone Preferences - $10.00 to change, and Bedroom Preferences - $10.00 to change. This is taken directly from their website. This is what you find out upon signing up and your payment is made. This is not disclosed with the initial signup. As well as their listings are all taken from other sites on the internet for free! Search engines like Google, craigslist, Kijiji, renters.com, oodle, the classifieds and newspapers. These internet websites and or search engines are in no way affiliated with www.rental-data.com. This website isn't listing anything someone can't find on their own. However, initially you are led to believe otherwise.

I am a Rental Data Bureau (RDB) employee and would not have known about this ripoff report except for a potential customer who phoned today, with questions.
RDB offers a personalized service which helps tenants find rentals that meet their needs. First, I want to point out that when a property rents and a similar one comes up the next day, it's not called bait and swith, it's called reality. Rentals, rent... it is their destiny!
Secondly, service fees are clearly defined and nobody buys blindly but it is true that customers must define rent preferences in advance. $10 preference change fees combat service misuse and are rarely charged except in cases where customers allow friends/relative to use their service.
The claim that RDB listings all come from Google, Craigslist, Kijiji, renters.com, oodle, the classifieds and the newspapers is a huge misstatement. RDB also checks over 300 other resources, standardizing and organizing results in easy to read rows and columns on a private webpage for every customer. Efficient and comprehensive.
All a customer has to do is logon and call the landlord. That's why we like to say we'll find you more rentals faster and for less than the cost of a tank of gasoline. Read satisfied customer comments here: http://www.rental-data.com/p/letters.htm
