I would like to let you know about the current unpleasant situation and conditions regarding the Wyndham Philadelphia at 17th and Race Streets and how disappointing aspects of our stay were. For the sake of simplicity, I will itemize below:

1. In spite of a non-smoking pre-paid reservation, we were initially placed in a first floor smoking room with burnt and dirty carpet.

2. We were moved to a room which had been converted to a non-smoking room only to find at midnight that we had no hot water!

3. The breakfast we were offered after some pressing on our part was later billed to my VISA in spite of verbal confirmation on checkout that it was all taken care of!

4. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi, key features were under construction but no mention of this was made at the desk when we and others inquired.

5. The air system in the gym was blowing cold (55 degree!) air.

Though some efforts were made to repair our personal situation for my wife and I, we found multiple, sequential disappointments and just today, I've been billed for the comped breakfast!

Based on photographs and descriptions, we expected to stay in a luxurious business style hotel, exercise and relax but our expectations of comfort and activities were raised miles above the ensuing reality.

This property is both poorly maintained and poorly run. Add my complaint to the list. This company and its staff have no interest in running a decent operation. Avoid this property at all costs!

I have written letters to both managers and to the corporate office to try to get our money back for the "comped" breakfast. We've certainly earned it by now twicefold!

Finally got a refund for the "comped" breakfast.

AUTHOR: David - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, December 18, 2004

After calling the property three times and being brushed off, and having written a letter to the assistant manager, copying her manager and the corporate headquarters, I got a phone call from the manager that my account had been credited for the free breakfast. No apologies.

Though a nice breakfast was finally refunded, I feel that we earned it twice, once for staying the night with no hot water, and again for having to call and write three letters for it.

I stand by my comments about the Philadelphia property, staff and company.
