Last year we went to Orlando,Florida for a disney vacation. While at a resturaunt we were stopped about visiting a timeshare resort for discount tickets to WDW. We were like ok we'd be saving almost $200 so what the heck.

We arrived at the appointed time and they fed us a hot breakfast along with about 300 other "targets". After breakfast, they they took us for a tour of the resort. I have to admit it was a nice resort, but way out of our price range.

After out tour we were seated down with our sales rep to tell us all the benefits of owning a timeshare. When I told her we were not interested that it was to expensive she told us she would get her manager.

Her manager came over(all the whils 50 other sales reps were pitching the same spiel)to tell us he is authorized to knock down the price. He then begin teling us the benefits again I told him it was still to expensive. He told me that we could sign up for a discounted price and if we changed our mind we could cancel at anytime before the 30 day arrival date. When I looked over the contract it said we had 10 days to cancel and the manager assured us that we caould still cancel at anytime. He said let me check with my manager just to be sure. So he left and then came back.he said that was no problem. I said are you sure we can cancel, because I don't want to sign this contract.

SO anyhow to make a long story short when we tried to cancel and they said we were bound by the contract. The sad thing is they offered us discount tickets to wdw, which are actually cheaper at disney. I can get my tickets and stay at the wdw resort for cheaper then the room and the tickets at Wyndym. I just wanted to warn everyone. They lie right to your face. When I called them on it they said they do not lie. I was like whta do you think they did. All I really wanted was an apology. i understand we are bound by a contract but an apology would be nice.

Wyndham Resorts High Pressure Sales Tactics

AUTHOR: Dave - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, May 26, 2005

I had a similar experiance to that of Kathy except that I did not part with any money, in fact I left with $80.00 of theirs! We were approached at Universal Studios and asked to come to Wyndham for a presentation and breakfast, we would also receive $80.00 for our time... we went. Well the scene was the same as Kathy mentioned a large room full of people being fed and conversing with their on personal presenter, frankly we smelled a rat from the word go but decided to see what happened.

The resort was well appointed, nice place, you were being stroked right from the begining the pressure was on as soon as you were greeted. We were shown the building they were pushing and then brought to the "boiler room"... the high pressure began.

My wife and I have sat through a number of these type presentations in the past and its very persuasive, they work you over "isn't this just the most perfect place you've ever seen?" ... they begin to pour it on. As with Kathy with your first refusal they bring out their boss, next his boss and so on. The goal here is to where you down you get the feeling that must be stuip to pass this deal up. The room is charged up, a large number of people at tables all being fed the same script, and as soon as someone gives in they stop everything going on in the room for the announcement that sucker #10 has signed up for a condo.

This whole thing is designed to seperate you from your money, if you're not careful .. you will. You find yourself on the plane home wondering what did I just do? In our case we were offered the $80.00 if we'd sit through the presentation, we did when it was through we followed through gave us our money and sent us on our way.

The whole thing is don't give in. I gave up 2 hours of a day had nothing planned for anyway and made $80.00 and was fed! We went in there with one thing in mind, NO!

I did feel that their sales tactics were to say the least predatory and they tried to call us and see if we wanted to stay for $200.00 for 3 days this winter so I guess they haven't given up yet but the word is still NO!
