i had a group interview at Comodo in Jersey City for an account management position.  Everything went very and during the interview the HR person discussed that we would receive a base salary of $25,000.  The interview went well and Cynthia Klawans called me back to start the job after a background check.  THe background check came back and this a copy of the offer i received:

September 10, 2009

Further to your recent interview, I am pleased to offer you the temporary full time position of Inside Sales Representative with Comodo Group Inc. The term is currently 60 days with the potential for extension. Your work place will be in our offices located in Jersey City. The anticipated start date for this position is September 14, 2009. Please could you confirm your acceptance of this offer by signing and returning one copy of this letter. You will report to Kevin Deickmann, Inside Sales Team Manager. You will be paid $8 per hour and will be required to work 40 hours per week. You will not be paid for any additional hours unless they are specifically requested by Comodo and authorized by us in writing. Your commission compensation will be calculated as follows for the first 60 days (or two full months); to qualify for commission the value of your sales in the month needs to be greater than the baseline. The baseline is the number of working days in the month times the daily rate of pay for an 8 hour day. Sales is defined as sales less $100 for each week that a 400 call quota is not achieved (partially worked weeks will be calculated on a pro-rata basis) or plus $100 for each week that a 600 call level is achieved (no pro rata element). The commission calculation will be paid sales received by the company after the call quota adjustment less baseline. This means that assuming you work all working days in a month, and are successful, you will receive compensation equal to the total value of paid sales you have made. You will be an at will employee. This letter is not intended to create or imply a contract or specific period of employment. When you report to work, Comodo requires that you have available for our review the documents necessary to establish employment eligibility verification as required by the Immigration and Naturalization Services. Also, at the time of employment you will be required to read and execute a confidentiality agreement which will be given to you during your new hire orientation. As you may know, this offer of temporary employment is contingent upon Comodos successful completion of your reference checks, or any other investigations required by Comodo. We at Comodo anticipate a bright and exciting future ahead and are pleased that you have chosen to share it with us and help us reach our goals. Should you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Cynthia Klawans Human Resource Recruiter

Needless to say, in the offer letter Comono offered me around $10,000 less base salary to start.  I thought this was a mistake so I called cynthia klawan.  She was unavailable to speak to me so I gave the message to a different recruiter about the mistake.

HR recruiter Cynthia called me back and said that she had spoken to the hirer ups in the organization and it was ok to rescind the offer.  So, she rescinded my offer that  I received the day before.

Moral of the story:  Be very careful when dealing with Comodo and Cynthia Klawan.  I don't know if the problem is her or the company because the company has some very good products.

I do know that Cynthia Klawans is one the sleaziest recruiters I have ever dealt with.  She gives Comodo a bad image and an unethical way to do business.

The Accusation Against Comodo's Cynthia Klawans is UNTRUE

AUTHOR: DSchrotter - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 28, 2010

Everybody:

I work at Comodo. I was hired by Cynthia Klawans. The individual who ranted about her being a "sleazy recruiter" not only spelled it incorrectly (no shock) but was turned away after the offer was made. Cynthia told me she felt horrible about it but SHE HAD NO CHOICE, THE DECISION WAS MADE BY MANAGEMENT ABOVE HER. The fact that our angry friend was hired at a rate of $8 an hour should scream "former Wendy's employee," and quite frankly Comodo is better off without such a person speaking to their customers.

I want to make this absolutely clear.  CYNTHIA KLAWANS IS AN EXCELLENT RECRUITER WITH A HEART AND SHE CAN BE TRUSTED. I work here, I know. She has promised certain things to me and has come through. So please, do yourself a favor and totally disregard this guy's ripoff report. It is completely unfounded and is technically slander, but I doubt he even knows what slander is or that it is very illegal.

Comodo is a fantastic company. They offer free healthcare, a fun work environment, an OK base salary and a commission structure unheard of in sales, it's so generous. They are safe to work for.
