I also found my credit card statement and there is a $79.95 charge that appeared from consumerinfo.com (CIC Credit Monitoring Service). I never authorized this charge or even received the free credit report that was to be sent to me. I only agreed to receive a "FREE" credit report which I never received.Creazing!!

This is truly a rip-off and the company should be investigated. Thank You!

I will contact them later even though their severice phone is invalid

Shame For Your Attack On Carson

AUTHOR: RJ - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 17, 2003

What Carson said was perfectly understandable and totally logical. Time after time on this site, its obvious that people dont read before applying for credit reports, credit cards, etc. As Carson said, information, including Terms and Conditions, are easily found on the web sites in question.

And somehow so many people have no problem believing everything telemarketers tell them. They happily give their credit card and back account numbers out to these strangers. But when they get scammed, they blame their situation on everyone except themselves.

The Rip-Off site offers a terrific public service. Its too bad that so many people dont appear to be taking advantage of it for research BEFORE being ripped. Interesting how those same people find time to look and complain AFTER the fact. Many times it's too late!

Orange County Should Step Down ..you obviously are a right-winged nut as evidenced by your ORANGE COUNTY residence

AUTHOR: Lattice - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, March 17, 2003

Carson,

Obviously you either work for consumerinfo or have not fully read and understood the deceptiveness of their advertisements.

Furthermore, you obviously are a right-winged nut as evidenced by your ORANGE COUNTY residence (apologies to all those in OC who are level-headed and intelligent, but the overwhelming evidence points to my conclusion).

You are in a gross minority in your stance that the company has done nothing illegal. They most certainly have.

Go back to your gun-toting OC ways, you fool!

Dear Carson- perhaps you should read all of the complaints before you judge people and offer an incorrect solution.

MANY PEOPLE did cancel within 30 days and WERE STILL CHARGED, like myself. I cancelled on the 21st day via email.

Many of us do read the fine print and are not as stupid as you think.

Also, many do not enroll on their website. AOL is now offering the to their members, they tried to give me their free service (again). They never mentioned your card would be charged if you did not cancel.

Thanks but your post was really a waste of my eyesight

Read first!

AUTHOR: Carson - (U.S.A.)

For all of those who state that they were just offered a "free" report you must not have read the entire website. You saw the word "free" and assumed no responsibility for your actions past that point.

The website states (in the same font as the rest of the site, not in small print) that you will be billed if you do not cancel. If you didn't receive your report you should have called.

When you say the number provided is invalid it is not. Under the contact information, all the information provided is accurate. It's easy to point fingers when we make mistakes and do not want to own up to them.
