I purchased an ILO LCD tv for my husband from Walmart. Four weeks later the remote quit working and no one could find a remote that would work.

The tv could still be used by turning it off/on with the switch on the side.
The volume could be changed using the volume switch on right side of tv.

Then the Off/On switch broke. Walmart says it is not their problem. No way to contact ILO. No universal remote is programmable for this television. No electronics repair shop will touch this television. We have contacted many repair places.

We are out $1000.00 because of a switch and have no recourse and no help in sight.

Buyer beware!

Do you have the manual?

AUTHOR: Aaron - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 26, 2008

You need to contact the manufacturer. If you don't call 1-800-wal-mart and since it is a house brand they should be able to give you contact info. Hell they might even just get a new remote sent to you.

#4 UPDATE Employee

I guess...

AUTHOR: Ceadda - (U.S.A.)

I guess "Steve" is the new expert on employees.

Well guess what steve. I'm an employee too. Guess what else. All the tvs come with a manual and a box. The manual has contact information in it. And the boxes have 1-800 contact numbers printed right on them. They can also hand you these numbers at the service desk of any store that carries the product.

Also, universal remotes do in fact work fine with Ilo tvs. They have for years. It takes a 5 minute call to the remote's manufacturer or 15-20 minutes of playing with the remotes "guess the code" feature.

What about finding another remote?

AUTHOR: Grimlock - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 19, 2008

I did a quick search for "ILO remote control" and found many places offering OEM remotes for ILO televisions. Some of them were $60, but still, it's better than having a TV that you can't turn on. You could try eBay too.

I guess "Irishman78" is the new self appointed Wal-Mart spokesperson!

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, December 19, 2008

"Irishman78",

I see that you have posted to nearly every thread regarding Wal-Mart.

Why is that?

Are you the new spokesperson for Wal-mart?

It appears that you are an expert in every area.
What position do you hold at Wal-Mart?

Exactly.

#1 UPDATE Employee

Very Confused

AUTHOR: Irishman78 - (Canada)

POSTED: Thursday, December 18, 2008

Hi there. Now I work at Walmart, though it's in Canada.

Even if you lost your receipt. Walmart would still help you. Yes it's a pain in the butt for us with no receipt. But it sounds to me like it's the TV. Yeah four weeks is a little long too, but again the fact no one can find another remote to work with it, means you are not satisfied.

Speak to the Dept Manager of Electronics and if need the Store Manager. If they are pissy to you, then threaten to write a letter to the President of Walmart.

Trust me, they will help you out. NO Store Manager is going to want to get his/her butt whupped by Head Office over an unsatisfied customer. I'd use more colourful language to stress my point about how much trouble that Store Manager would be in. But I assume you get my point.

I just had my personal butt chewed out by my SM 2 days ago about something they THOUGHT I did with a customer. It wasn't me, but I took corrective action to make the customer happy when she wrote a letter to our Store Manager. He said, "I don't care what it takes, make her happy". So I did.
