 Meritage offered me a lease back on a new Diamanté property. After giving them $10,000 in earnest money I was unable to properly insure the property; no insurance company would provide me a copy of a policy to prove they would cover this unique situation. After multiple attempts to get proof of adequate coverage with no escape clause I determined the property could not adequately be covered by liability insurance . After asking for my earnest money back via the BBB Meritage then lied to the BBB by saying they offered to cover the property under their master policy. This is a well-oiled scam to rip off honest investors' earnest money.
