I'm sorry to hear about this situation. I used to do this mysterious shopping work for a couple of companies as well. After reading your report, there are so many things left out from your report that are critical to whether or not the company is a scam.

1) When you saw the possibility of making $50/hr, did you ever have a question in your mind about how it could pay out that well? From my experience, that high pay comes with more experiences and certain requirements in order to qualify for that kind of job.
2) When your son signed up, were you with him to read through the Term of Conditions (or Services)?
3) When your son signed up, did you and he read every thing? It is surprised to me that an amount of $2.95 could turn into $149.85 which is obscene. This seems to be an extra sign up fee for some other thing else. What are they?
4) When you called the customer service, Donald Dae, what was the exact conversation you had? What questions did you ask him? And what was his respond? When he refused to refund, there should be a reason behind this. It seems to me that you intend to not talk about it.

When I first did a mysterious shopping job, I got paid only $10 per job (not hour). The job took a couple hours to be completed (went to the site and completed the report)! However, the last job I did (after working in the field for a couple of years), I got paid around $40/hr but with a lot more tasks and report write up.

When you talked about $50/hr at the beginning, it is a huge red flag to me that you and your son didn't understand how this work. The extra fees you paid into could come from something which you did not elaborate in your report.
