I purchased a vehcile from North Coast Auto online. I was skeptical about it, but they offered me an unlimited mileage warranty at a great price through Great Lakes Warranty Corp. I jumped on it.

Well, 384 miles later the car breaks down and I get a $7000.00 bill. No big deal, I've got a warranty right? WRONG. Great Lakes did not hesistate to inform me that they were not paying any claims now nor in the future on this vehicle. All parts and components were covered as indicated on THEIR contract. There was no pre-existing clause either. I asked if they planned to give me a refund or just go all out and keep my money too.

They said that they would refund my money, but only if I would fax over a statement that I wanted to cancel due to personal reasons, i.e. changed my mind about it. That way they could eliminate the possibility of me pursueing them for FRAUD.

Needless to say, I did not fax over that statement, but one that read that if they were blantently choosing to dishonor and void my warranty that I would like them to refund my money. Guess what? I'm not going to get that now either. These people are a joke and a FRAUD.

I have had 4 policies with Great Lkaes and found them GREAT! In a case of obvious Fraud like this they do have a Pre-existing clause on their contract. Under the Exclusions section on all of my policies, the very first item reads EXACTLY like this " This contract provides NO coverage or benefits, even if a covered part or component has failed for: Any pre-existing condition including but not limited toany part or component that is worn, defected, or failing at the time of or before delivery of the vehicle to you."
Helena, you should be complaining to your Dealer Not the third party warranty company that they tried to commit a fraud against!!!!!
