After reading another report previously filed, I felt I needed to share my similar ordeal. In the prior report it was called defective caroeting. The term I am familiar with is Corn Rowing.

We purchased an house full of carpet (Tuftex Baypoint) and after only 7 months the carpet showed horrible lines/striping. Several professionals advised me that it was corn rowing
(a manufactoring defect.) In fact I found several indepenent inspector sites that state Corn Rowing occurs when the overall density of pile yarn is not adequate. The problem is not caused by vacuuming, but only becomes more obvious.

Upon having the Shaw inspector out, I received a commercial about the wonders of Shaw. He told me there definate installation problems, but we discussed that the corn rowing was even in locations of proper install and they were addressed as separate issues. He said " I understand why your upset" when we compared the difference between the carpet under my couch and the open area.. He also told me my vacuum was an appropriate vacuum. To a my complete surprise, his report stated I had cause the corn rowing along with the install. Now they won't return calls, and have stated they are no longer addressing the problem.

We met another couple who had the same problem, with the same carpet. I believe this is an inferior carpet. The manner in which the last complaint was responded to only demonstrates their lack of professionalism. Perhaps they will be more willing to talk to a judge.

I also have the same problem

AUTHOR: MARIA - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 12, 2003

When we bought the carpet, the sales person "pushed" real hard for us to buy SHAWS.Tuftex #TS350. Claiming it was the best quality but was overstocked, so the price was real low. Only after short 35 days, I have the same problem as other consumer, loose threads, lines that is a "manufature defect", we file the claim with the retailer " Walnut Carpet" , they start playing game, giving excuses, finally they said they will replace it, but I have to PAY EXTRA in order to get the same quality product, why? They claim they sold me the wrong price, so they can only replace the same "value" not "quality"...Dispute still in process.
Also. beware..In State of California, Sales person has to be license also. in this case, I also suspect they use NON lincese contractor to finished the job.

i have been installing carpet for 17 years and i have noticed that the quality of carpet manufactoring has dropped not only for SHAW but all manufactors. It seems that the only way out for the manufactor is to blame the installor or the customers vaccum cleaner. It's time to stop passing the buck and get back to producing aquality product. the customer after all is still paying ours BILLS
