While applying for a service worker position with Enterprise, I received a copy of my credit report and also a letter a few days letter stating that I was not selected based on my credit rating. A company that utilizes credit reports to determine if a person is hirable at the entry level and service/maintence departments are actually discriminating against those who have bad or poor credit history or rating.
This in itself should not have any bearing in hiring employees to a company. We are trying to get a job so that we may be able to repair or reverse our present credit history/rating. This misuse of the credit report only shows the depth that companies and its employers will go to in finding those who meet their personal criteria as new members or employees of this company.
I want to ask all present and previous employees to send me an email who feel that you got the job or did not get the job based on your credit rating or report, or you have received a letter from this company stating that based on your credit you are not hireable with this company.

THOUGH I DON'T AGREE WITH THE POLICY..

A lot of companies do the same thing, particularly if the job entails handling cash, credit cards or other negotiables. I'm sure that the position is required to be bondable by their insurance company. The surety bond carrier likely found you to be nonbondable, due to adverse credit. Their rationale probably was that you would be a greater risk for theft than someone with a clean credit history. They usually also run a criminal background check for these positions, and a person with a criminal history would also not be bondable. The policy may not be fair to people who may have bad credit due to uncontrollable situations, but unfortunately, that is the way it is.
