I was planning to switch from AT&T to T-Mobile since my monthly bill was so high. I called T-Mobile, got prices on monthly plans that seemed to be what I was looking for. So I decided to give them a try. I informed the sales rep that I wanted to keep the phones and the numbers that I had instead of changing. She told me that all I had to do was to call AT&T and tell them I was going out of the country and they would unlock my phones. Then all I would need to do was slip in the T-Mobile SIM card for each of my devices ($10 each) that she was going to ship to me, after I paid for them of course.... So I informed her I would like to make sure my phones could be unlocked first before paying anything. Needless to say, she ASSURED me they that AT&T HAD to unlock my phones for me and everything would be fine. In fact, if I did have any problems I could call back and get a full refund. So I went ahead and paid the $121.80 UP FRONT for a service I did not even have yet. I called AT&T that day and asked them to unlock my phones and told them exactly what the T-Mobile representative told me to tell them. They declined my request. So I went to an outside source and paid $40 per phone to try to have them unlocked and found out after that failed that there is now a LAW in place that it is ILLEGAL to unlock phones if your carrier will not unlock them. I worked on getting my phones unlocked for almost a week. It took 5 days to get the SIM cards from T-Mobile. After I could not get my phones unlocked I called T-Mobile to inform them of the issue I was having. The representative said she was going to refund the $31.80 I paid for the SIM card purchases and even gave me a confirmation number of the refund. She talked me into going to look at T-Mobile phones and said she would refund my full amount if I changed my mind. So I went looking.... two days later I decided I was not paying the prices they wanted for the phones they had that I liked so I was just going to stay with AT&T. I called back and was transferred eleven times and got disconnected once to get no resolution to my problem and no refund. When I finally got to speak to the person I needed to speak with, it was at THAT time I was told I had 20 days from the day I placed my order to cancel and receive a refund and the day that I was calling was day 21!!!! NO REFUND GIVEN and I still have not seen the refund for the $31.80 from the SIM cards. THEN..... I received a BILL in the mail for service I NEVER used! I called to complain about the bill and inquire about my refunds and the manager proceeded to inform me that the contracts states once I change my numbers over to T-Mobile that I forfeit my right to a refund.... THAT was my argument exactly... I NEVER USED THEIR SERVICE but was charged for it! They refuse to refund me anything and are still trying to bill me for a service I do not have! BEWARE!!!! Do your homework people!!!!
