Liars. Placed an order with the promise of an immediate $25 credit if I applied for a credit card. I was approved for the card never got the instant credit. I received an email stating that so many customers were denied the $25 credit that a $30 credit would be applied on next purchase. Then I spent multiple days trying to redeem the buy.com visa credit of $30. Emailed multiple times -received idiot automated non-responses. The customer service was nonresponsive. Spoke to Buy.com Visa. They were sympathetic but unable to help. Buy.com Visa claimed they had no telephone number for Buy.com.

Dug up the Buy.com 877 number after multiple attempts: 1-877-780-2464. Was told by employer by the name of Leander to go ahead and place order get the confirmation number and call back and the credit would be manually entered . He assured me that he was writing a note on my account to that effect. After placing my order,I called back, spoke to other customer service personell including the supervisor who insisted I was wrong-in spite of multiple confirming emails, and they would not take $30 off the order.

This company is run by a bunch of lying offshore Indian sleazeballs. DO NOT IN ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. YOU WILL BE SORRY. They are nothing short of time-sucking arrogant grifters. I have reviewed hundreds of complaints posted on various sites (including resellerratings.com) about Buy.com and have come to the following conclusions.

The bottom line is that:
1. They do not honor their prices.
2. They do not honor their rebates.
3. They do not honor their promotions.
4. They do not honor their coupons.
5. Their customer services is based in India; most can hardly speak English are not honest and will consistently lie to make a sale.
6. The prices posted often have nothing to do with reality.
7. Their prices include discounts for rebates that they have no intention of honoring or are fictitious in the first place.

BUY.COM: MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, April 21, 2006

This is in response to Mike's polite reponse to my rebuttle.

I didn't make the point clear: what you should have inferred from my comments was that of the 2400 reviews posted on resellerratings.com, virtually all of them were negative. So your "relatively-speaking" example of out of millions of customers only 2400 negative comments is fallacious argument.

In other words,it is a bad analogy to propose the 2400 negative ratings on Buy.com are not so bad because there must be a million satisfied customers because they didn't post a negative comment. Ridiculous.

I wasn't doubting that you are having a problem. All I am saying is I shop on Buy.com all the time and have only had a problem once 3 yrs ago, and that was only because their supplier didn't deliver so they cancelled my order. I also know 3 other people I am friends with that have ordered many things from buy.com without any problems.

As far as 2,200 people giving them negative, when you have 10's ofmillions of customers a year, is 2200 such a big number? It's like an ebay rating...if a guy has a rating of 100,000 and he has 2000 negatives, is that a bad thing? It's all relative. I would continue to go up the chain until you get some results.

Also, your issues is only with the credit being appled (taken off) your order, so anything you have to say about not honoring their prices or anything ther than what happened to you is second hand and has nothing to do with your report.

Hundreds of complaints against Buy.com posted on resellerratings.com

AUTHOR: Steven - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, April 19, 2006

This is in response to the gentleman who claims he has had numerous transactions with Buy.com without a problem. I doubt the veracity of your statement. It is not uncommon for a retaileer to post a false response or rating using a shill.
One has to only look at a rating service like pricescan which allows retailers to inflate ratings by posting fictituous false reports.

On the web site resellerratings.com the are 2,423 narrative ratings of Buy.com. In it, anyone can read NUMEROUS detailed similar, but unique, complaints against this store.

The most common rating of Buy.com is: VERY DISSATISFIED. ALTHOUGH THE RATINGS COME FROM 2,423 DIFFERENT INDIVIDUALS, THERE IS A COMMON LITANY OF COMPLAINTS AGAINST THE DISHONESTY OF BUY.COM INCLUDING NOT HONORING REBATES.

Find it hard to believe

AUTHOR: Mike - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 18, 2006

Steven,

I've ordered well over 100 items from buy.com with absolutely NO problems. The price on their site is always the price I paid, and if a rebate was available, unless I sent it in late (my own fault) I ALWAYS got the rebate back.

As for customer service being based in India, I don't think you can call any customer service number nowadays without reaching India. So unless you want to run for office or try to get the idiots in govt today who allow companies to farm jobs offshore or hire ilegals, not much you can do here. However, that being said, buy.com is an american company. It's just their customer service people who aren't.

Not much to do here besides continue to call and go higher and higher up the supervisor chain.
