Recently my husband and I disputed some items on his credit report. We have no idea what they are, even his personal information had all kinds of garbage all over it. Saying he's lived in states he's never even been too.
He disputed and item with Dynamic Recovery Services. It was only $122 but it was not ours, I don't feel like we should pay for something we don't owe.
So today almost a month later I went back to Experian to see how this dispute was going. The item for DRS is still listed as "Under Investigation." BUT listed right under that is a new account with DRS. When I clicked on the item I noticed the amount was the same so I started looking closer. The amount is the same, all the dates, etc... Only two things changed. The original creditor has changed and when I compared the account numbers on both the items and the only difference is a string of numbers is added the second item (9800000000********). I was furious and contacted Experian and started yet another dispute. Then getting angrier by the minute I found DRS' contact information and called them.
The result of the conversation has only made me angrier. The lady I spoke with said "it wasn't her problem and that's something we will have to clear up with the credit bureau's. And maybe if we had paid this debt this wouldn't be happening but if I would like to take care of this today she can make it all go away. And she can't help what there computers add with the credit bureaus." At this point I asked that she validate the debt and she refused saying she wasn't about to bother with validating a debt this old. I knew I wouldn't get anywhere and just hung up.
Why is it that companies have the right to do this? When did it become the consumer's problem when companies break the law? And why is it that the credit bureau's could care less what they are adding to reports?
