Purchased a Gold mechanical breakdown policy for $685 covering 5 years - 60K miles on a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer.

First time I tried to use vehicle had 30K miles about 40 months. They would not cover replacement of idle air bypass valve.

Makes one wonder what is actually covered if anything. No details of civerage was recieved form delearship which is now no longer in business.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Fidelity NEVER pays!

AUTHOR: Lee - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, October 09, 2004

Having dealt with Fidelity numerous times leads me to belive they are in the business of NOT paying for covered repairs. They remind me of that new Capitol One commercial where the guy says NO a hundred different times.

The dealership I used to work for WILL NOT accept repairs to be performed under Fidelity warranty. Neither will 2 other dealerships I know of. They tape EVERY conversation and will deny a claim solely on improper use of a single word they can construe to mean something else. We also ran into several Fidelity policys that had $1000 repair limits on them. NOT per repair but LIFETIME benefit. Consumers on avg. paid over $200 for these gutless policies.

I'll provide one example of a Fidelity repair. Ford trucks have a suspension part called a radius arm bushing. These wear out and you hear a clunking noise over bumps. Repair runs $150-250. Cust. came in with one that busted and fell out. AND a Fidelity warranty. Called Fidelity, told them the bushing needed replaced. "What's wrong with it?". Should have known something was wrong then, EVERYBODY in this industry knows about Fords' radius arm bushings. I said it broke and fell out. "It's missing?" was the response. Uh, yeah, it busted and fell out. "We don't pay for missing parts". Deadpan. I 'bout fell out. Arguing with this a*s for 10 minutes to no avail. I think he took it as a compliment when I called him a jackal.

In this industry we have a new generalization. If the warranty co. is in south Florida, DON"T BUY IT! All the ones that decline everything are in south Florida.
