i have had the first progress mastercard though Synovus Bank, in Columbus, GA since march of this year. i got this card to build my credit so it's a secured credit card. i started out with a $300.00 deposit and used it every month to begin my credit building. i paid the first month with no problems online, but as soon as i went to pay the second bill online it told me i owed 4x what i actually charged! i panicked and looked for any number i could call to sort things out. yet, they had absolutely no phone numbers to call. even the phone number on the back of the card wouldn't let me talk to anyone. that number just gave me my balance and when it was due. when i looked online all they had was an address to write, and on top of that; it was a PO box. after looking for several hours online and calling various banks and credit card companies i finally got ahold of the right company. they notified me that "they've had a lot of complaints about bill paying online for the last year or so", and told me i'd just need to call to pay my bills from now on. yet, when you call the number they provide, there is no prompt to pay your bill or even talk to anyone. due to this, i have overpaid on my bill 3 times. when i once again called first progress and asked to talk to a manager, i got three different "managers" and 3 different anwnsers (one even said it's not their fault!) i finally cancelled the card and was notified that i would recieve my deposit back within 3-4 weeks in the mail.

this has been two months ago. once again i called them back, but only to get the anwnser of "we're working on it". i had no clue that this would be so much trouble! i've never in my life experienced a company like this before, and i work in quailty control, and audit for a living. upon doing some more research i read an article that this company is basicly a private organization out of someones basement and the bank doesn't even exist! although, i'm not sure how true that is. to say the least, this company and bank is an absolute joke, they're thieves, and huge scammers!
