From April 6th through about April 26th, 2013, I participated in auctions of silver and gold offered by Liberty Trading, using Proxibid. I had read and understood the shipping details, indicating that while rare, shipping times of 4-6 weeks could occur, the stated reason being that they operated with a minimal staff. During the course of the auctions I exchanged e-mails and spoke over the telephone with a representative regarding payment discounts. I found these exchanges to be handled professionally with no reason for any concern.

My concern developed about a week and a half ago, at that point, some 6 or 7 weeks following payment on the first of the auctions. I called Liberty Trading and spoke with Jamie, indicating that I was just calling to check on the status of the shipping. I made mention of the 4 to 6 week shipping time stated in their terms of service, and she responded a bit apologetically that it was taking even longer than they had thought it would take to ship the orders. She told me that they would e-mail me when they do ship.

I fear, as another report has suggested, that Liberty Trading has been holding auctions for coins and bullion which they do not in fact, have in hand. I have noticed that Liberty Trading has not held any auctions on Proxibid for the better part of a month.

I trust that I will be able to follow this up with a good report. At this point however,  it is already 8 weeks.

Just a brief synopsis of my case with Liberty Trading by way of review. I participated in several of Liberty Trading's gold and silver auctions hosted through Proxibid during April 2013 for a total amount of just under $25,000. I filed my initial report eight weeks later, as I had not received any shipment. Now, three years later, I have received none of the items won at auction, nor have I had any further contact since a missed phone call early on from owner Tony Flowers which I mentioned in my complaint filed with the St. Louis Better Business Bureau. This complaint can be viewed on their website.

Since filing my complaint with RipOff Report I have been interviewed twice by St Louis television station KMOV's reporter Chris Nagus for the series he conducted regarding Liberty Trading. As of the most recent installment in this series of which I am aware, the Illinois Attorney General's office stated that 42 individuals had filed complaints against Liberty Trading, and few if any had received either goods or refunds.

Several months ago I decided to once again try to search for some information that might help resolve my situation. My computer search brought me to the minutes of the Vandalia City Council meeting of January 20th, 2014 in which it records the appointment to fill the vacant seat on the Zoning board of appeals left after Sean Cook moved out of the state. Sean Cook was a part owner/ office manager for Liberty Trading. He made a rebuttal to one of the complaints filed on Ripoff Report, in defense of Liberty Trading's " honest and up front" dealings with their customers. But I guess things got a little too hot in the kitchen. I have copied and pasted the full text below.

"A motion was made by Swarm and seconded by N. Clark approving the appointment of Kyle Barker to the Zoning Board Of Appeals.  Barker will replace the position vacated by Sean Cook upon moving out of state.  Motion carried."

That is how things stand today June 4th, 2016, nearly three years after the misdealings became evident. I still hope for a resolution, but I'm not holding my breath. I am disappointed with the Illinois Attorney General's office, who, after sending a postcard acknowledging receipt of my complaint, never followed up as they said they would. The St. Louis Better Business Bureau on the other hand, did get back to me to let me know that Liberty Trading did not respond to their communications.

I would be interested to know if any other of you who have filed complaints have arrived at a resolution.
