A common component of life here in the good ol' US of A is simply to feel safe. That's why many Americans seek out home security services, like State Streets USA. Had I only known its was the security company I should have had my eye on, I wouldn't be writing this report today.

They lied to me! And now we owe them money.

When my wife and I bought our home, we already had a security system in place. We simply didn't have services. Our biggest concern was, of course, the contract. When courting ADT through one of their many local vendors, Safe Streets USA, we learned that ADT only provided vendors with three-year contracts. We were worried about early cancelation.

The rep told us that because they're not "technically" ADT, they (Safe Streets USA) are free to "work something out" with us in the event we should need to terminate. Because three-year contracts are all ADT will give them, it's common for them to have to work with people when such circumstances arise.

There's no help. And no matter how nice and seemingly trustworthy their roaming salepeople apear, they don't care.

We owe the remainder of the contract, and there's no real way out. The only other option is to carry over our contract to our next address, which is not an option being that we'll be living in an apartment, and for some time. Of course, they promise that they'll let you out of your contract if you'll only get the new owners into another three-year contract, but according to another complaint on this exact website about this exact service (ADT, that is), that's not what happens.

We recently filed with the BBB (Better Business Bureau), but because we signed a contract, our hands are fairely tied. Even though the company lied to get us into our bindings.

All I'm saying is that if you might be one of roughly one hundred million Americans who don't actually live your life in three year blocks, don't go with ADT. Or if you must, don't do it through Safe Streets USA. Though one is in no way better than the other, they both play that I'm hiding behind you, you hide behind me. We both win.

The client loses.

Solution to ADT, Authorized Dealer Problems

AUTHOR: GODsSsEND - ()

POSTED: Thursday, July 04, 2013

Whatever one's problem might be with ADT or any one of ADT's authorized dealers (Safe Streets USA, headquartered in Garner, NC, for example), the best way to get justice is simply to hit them where they've likely hit you -- in the wallet.

Here's how:

On any major search engine (Yahoo, AOL, Bing, Google, etc.), there is usually a portal where local businesses may post their services, provide a comment and their contact information, and have themselves rated by consumers. Simply draft a small, concise complaint, detailing your exact experience, honestly and without exaggeration, as well as the terms of your inevitable screwing. Then rate the service provider as low as possible and post your experience.

Sounds simple enough, and you may have already done this and are not quite satisfied.

Here's the tickler:

The fact that you may have only done this ONCE is the part that makes it so unsatisfying. All you need understand is that no matter which authorized ADT dealer you went through, it's always ADT providing the service. In fact, as you may or may not know, ADT provides all their dealers with the same exact relative contract (state specific). There are no other contracts available. So it's ADT you're after, not the authorized dealer -- though ADT will forever argue otherwise.

This opens up the redemptive playing field quite a bit. Why, a simple search of ADT in your local area (NOT the dealer that signed you) could yield several targets of opportunity. Every one of them viable because a negative rating and comment for each ultimately impacts ADT. Think about it: One negative comment for each of, say, ten authorized ADT dealers found is just that -- one bad rating and comment for each dealer. But it's ten bad ratings and comments for ADT.

As I'm planning, you don't stop there, of course. You don't stop until you feel better.

Once you've rated and posted your comment for every dealer in your area, move on to the next -- town, city, state, region of the United States. And simply keep going until you believe that your rating and comments may have lost the same amount of mony for ADT that was lost for you in your dealings with them.

A simple rule of thumb:

Don't stop rating and posting until you’re thoroughly tired of doing it. That's the only real way to find justice. Understand, you'll never really know whether or not your ratings and comments are having any effect. If you do not EXHAUST YOURSELF during your retaliation, you will be left always wondering if you had done enough. Go until you're good.

Best of luck. And please spread the word. It's the only way.

Been down that sad 'let us help you' road before, with Safe Streets USA as well as the parent company ADT.

Here's how it goes:

Both ADT and Safe Streets USA will say that they want to help resolve the issue. Here are their options.

     1) Pay the remainder of the contract (75 percent of the remainder if you meet the time qualifier).

     2) Take the contract with me to my next address and endure it to term.

     3) Or if my security system cannot be removed from my old address, sign a new three-year contract.

There is a fourth, semi-secret option:

     4) Get the new occupants to sign a three-year contract and be released with no further penalty or fee.

This last option is at least sensible. But be careful. It may very well be just another ploy. As other articles on just this one website complain, the fourth option won't actually help you in any way, shape, or form. It merely traps two people in a bad binder, whereas before they had only trapped one.

Attention author of the rebuttle:

If I've missed anything, please include it in your next post. That way, if you really do intend to resolve this issue in a way that doesn't so completely bend me over the barrel you've had me over, unaware, since the beginning, let us ALL hear it. Otherwise, keep your canned, nebulous customer-service squawk to yourself.
