I lost my credit card. my bank (BOA) issued a replacement. 2 week later my vonage payment post on my new credit card. i never updated my payment info nor did i get any information from vonage that the credit card was decline. my first call was to bank of america to see if the had removed the credit card block.. they advised me the card card was canceled & the charge was posted on my new card. i call vonage to see how they updated my new card info without my consent. they advised me that the bank automatically updated my info and send it to them. bank of america security policy is they do not share any customers info... CONSUMERS BEWARE... vonage is a security risk to your financial information...

So it comes down to that you believe the Bank or Vonage. Would you contact your bank again and ask them about how the automated info update works when a canceled/lost credit card gets replaced? The meaning of "sharing customer information" may be different from what you are understanding right now.
