When reviewing my statement online it said that I had an available credit of approximately $250. My computer needed to be repaired, I slid my card for $160. I thought I had enough credit to spend the $160.

When reviewing my statement online it said that I had an available credit of approximately $250. My computer needed to be repaired, I slid my card for $160. I thought I had enough credit to spend the $160. This would have left me with $90 of available credit.

However, on 08/02/12 Wells Fargo randomly charged me the interest of $158. This made me go over my credit limit of $10,000.  I went over by $3.75. Wells Fargo should letconsumers know when the interest is going to be charged. If I would have known when they were going to charge me the interest this situation could have been prevented.

Just because of that I had to pay my monthly credit card bill of $255 right away. I paid on 08/03/12.

Even after the overlimit was paid, Wells Fargo had the nerves to report it to the credit beuros on 08/06/12. I had even asked a rep if it was going to affect my credit score and be reported and the rep said "NO". They lied to me about this.

I do not understand why if I paid on 08/03/12 did Wells Fargo report the overlimit on my credit card.

I called and asked Wells Fargo to clear the overlimit and they said it will take 30 days to update in the system. 30 days is too long. Especially that I paid right away even before the date they reported it.

P.S

In the end my computer repair ended up costing me 160+ 158 from interest and $255 from the amount I pay monthly for the credit card bill. The grand total for my computer repair was $573. I even had to take money out of my saving. Had I known I would have paid the $160 with my debit card.

" I am starting to like you. Here is a twist for you, you are actually doing me a favor.  The more comments you make the more popular my report will be. More people will read it and the report will be easier to find. "

God I hope so! The more people that see your post, the more people will get a good laugh at the level of retardation you have. You were in the wrong. Your post proves you were in the wrong. Anyone coming along will see that too! You seriously think that your post is giong to be some sort of shining beacon about bank abuse on the internet? Keep dreaming. Come back when you have a real complaint.

" Your actually the one that fell in my trap I wanted you to stop implying things and just say what you think. "

What trap? I've been trolling you since day one. I don't give a rat's a*s about wells fargo. I posted to troll you, and you bit the bait. I reeled you in hook, line and sinker. Good little sheeple.

" I am an attention seeker and your are giving me attention."

You know, you are seeking attention from anonymous internet trolls right? That's likely a mental condition you should get checked out.

Good to note that you are sexist and a liar. I'm sure those still reading believed you when you said you would never read a post I wrote again. Guess what, you just read this one too didn't you sweetie?

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 10, 2012

You say you arent reading them yet you keep responding.

Interesting how that works.

Not only do you think you get to make the rules at the bank, you also think you get to make the rules here too. You don't get to decide who responds, or how often, or what they say.

You keep saying that you're done and not gong to respond, YET YOU KEEP RESPONDING! :D

No wonder credit cards confuse the hell out of you. Its amazing you can even operate a web browser.

Attn: bank advocates who did not read the update earlier

AUTHOR: soupsetrightnow - (USA)

POSTED: Friday, August 10, 2012

I had writen earlier that part of the problem was resolved.

The overlimit was updated before the 30 days that I was told. Before it did not appear that I had paid yet and they said it would take 30 days.

Like I said before a manager from wells fargo was empathetic and told me not to worry about the overlimit report because it is only something temporary.

P.S Lets agree to disagree

AUTHOR: soupsetrightnow - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, August 09, 2012

When I do not understand something I admit it.

I agree to disagree because no one is going to convince me that going over by $3.75 is the same as $375.

I do not agree with bank that it should be reported if it's under $100.

If there are enough complaints the banks do listen and make changes even if rules are rules.

There are many changes that have been made that we are not aware about thanks to consumers.

Others may disagree with the report and that is fine. The advice is always welcomed as long I don't feel others are being judgemental.

Thanks to all who gave good advice.

Conservative?

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 09, 2012

" Ash from now on what ever you reply will go in one eye and out the other. I will ignore you, so reply all you want. If someone says to leave me alone and you continue that is harrasement (watch out). "

Good, then you plan on stopping responding to this thread with your ignorance? Go ahead and report me to the authorities for harassment. I'm shivering in fear of you reporting me. Oh noes, some random guy on the internet is going to report another anonymous random person on the internet. Whatever shall i do?!

" Just because I don't agree with what the banks are doing does not mean I am ignorant and need to be "educated"."

Its clear from your post that you do. You don't understand how interest works. You think you can dictate terms to the bank. You think that when you go over yoru limit it shouldn't hit your credit report.... You clearly don't understand how credit works.

Here in your original post you said:
"  I went over by $3.75. Wells Fargo should letconsumers know when the interest is going to be charged."

They do let you know. They do it on the same date every month. They have informed you of the date when you set up yuor account. Need more examples, just from your original post, about how you don't understand banks?

"Who cares if you got an over the limit on the report even if it was only over by $3.75. But I believe in Karma and what you do will comeback to haunt you. One day you may also get an over the limit on your report. "

I care that you got the overlimit, but at the end of the day it was YOUR fault. YOU are the one that came to this website blaming the BANK for YOUR mistake. YOU are the one that exceeded your limit and YOU got the ding to your credit for it. There's no karma to dish out here. The bank TOLD YOU in your agreement with them how it all worked. It wasn't a big secret.

" So conservative, (an over limit of $3.75 is the same as $350) "

How does that statement make me conservative? When reporting to the credit bureaus, all that matters is that there was an overlimit. The dollar amount is unimportant, its just the fact that you went over the limit.

" Even if conservative people do not have empathy for me. I have empathy for you because there is something in your past that made you this way."

I'm not a conservative. I happen to be quite liberal, and was a supporter of President Obama in the last election. Care to try again?

"I am going to do yoga and meditation to lower my blood pressure lol."

You get so stressed over a posting on the internet that you have issues with your blood pressure and need to relax? You should probably see a doctor about stress management.

No one said you rule

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, August 09, 2012

"You seem to think that YOU get to make the rules as to when credit card companies must do certain things.  With all due respect you don't get to make the rules.  So even though you "think" that you shouldn't be reported unless you are $100 over you don't get to make that decision.  They make the rules and if you don't like them you have the choice to either still accept them or close your account.   "

He didn't say that you rule. He said that you think you get to MAKE the rules.

You don't get to decide when the interest is applied. Its applied on the same date every month, and that date was assigned to you by the bank when you opened your account. They don't need to make an announcement that they are adding it, they add it every month on the same date. Much like your due date is on the same date. These are not surprises.

And of course the overlimit is still there. Its a legitimate claim on your credit. The bank didn't sneak the interest charges in on you. If you had paid more attention to your bills, then you would know when the charge is applied. That's why people on this site are trying to educate you about how your credit card works. These are not rules that are just used by wells fargo, but they are used by the industry.

Also, I'll reply as many times as I feel like replying. If you come to a public forum, expect people to respond.

Update: Overlimit now appears accurate

AUTHOR: soupsetrightnow - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 08, 2012

I called to get a status on my credit report. It says that I paid the balance. Wells Fargo updated the information in less than the 30 days that I was told.

When I call the identity protection company who minitors my credit, they were empathetic.

A Wells Fargo manager at the bank was also empathetic and helped ease my anger by saying that the overlimit is only temporary and that I have nothing to worry about.

Give advise w/out being judgemental

AUTHOR: soupsetrightnow - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 08, 2012

Why don't you understand that I understand?

I will take his advice however, I do not appreciate people being judgemental and saying that I think I rule.

Quit being judgemental and show alittle more empathy (eyes rolled-up).

Don't act like overlimit is the same as stealing.

Stealing is stealing even if its $3.75 or $350.

Ash, you gave your opinion twice already. Drop the issue, I am really starting to get annoyed. You disagree you disagree now leave me alone :(.

I am here to share my experience not to be judged.

Overlimit

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 08, 2012

$3.75 or $375 it doesn't matter. Overlimit is overlimit.

You really need to read your statements and understand how credit cards work. Robert gave you some really good advice.

I do not think I rule

AUTHOR: soupsetrightnow - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 08, 2012

Nothing about what I said is arrogant. You say that I think I rule. How did you come up with this conclusion?

Please, I am expressing my why I am upset at wells fargo. I have the right to be upset if an overlimit is report and it's only $3.75 and this doesn't mean that I think I rule.

I ask that you not be judgemental.

Thanks

Sorry..

AUTHOR: Robert - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 08, 2012

Regardless of how others try to mis-direct you, you still do not understand how Credit truly works.

First of all it appears you are saying that you have a $10,000 credit limit but only a couple hundred dollars(give or take) available?  I'll show you why in a bit while this is not your main point it is actually your biggest problem.

You seem to think that YOU get to make the rules as to when credit card companies must do certain things.  With all due respect you don't get to make the rules.  So even though you "think" that you shouldn't be reported unless you are $100 over you don't get to make that decision.  They make the rules and if you don't like them you have the choice to either still accept them or close your account.

Credit Card companies report to Credit Bureaus once a month, and they will report your HIGH usage for the month.  So since you were over the limit at some point, you were reported as such.  As to your credit report, being a few dollars over your credit is no worse than being a couple hundred dollars within your $10,000 credit line.  They both show someone who is having trouble managing their account.

Next your interest is assessed at basically the same time every month.  For most cards this is your "Closing Date".  If you look back at your statements you will see that this is the case.  You can contact the credit card to see if they will adjust your dates, but IF they do they would adjust all your dates.  So not only your closing date but the date your bill is due.

As for how you got $250 available.  I can just about guarantee that if you look at your statements you made a payment before the Due Date.  This then gives you more "Available" because they haven't assessed the Interest yet.  Then you thinking you had that much available spent it not realizing that you are still going to have to pay the interest from the previous month.  This again goes back to you carrying a high-balance.  If you keep your balance at the recommended 30% of the total credit line you will never have this issue.

Good Luck in your future credit, but nothing here is anything different than other credit cards would do.  And this is just a case of you not understanding credit rather than any sort of RipOff.

The interest fee was charged at random date. There should be a fixed date.

AUTHOR: soupsetrightnow - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 08, 2012

I know how the wellsfargo credit card system works and I know that the interest is 21%. I did not miss understand anything. I know that the $158 was not an interest fee on the $160 but on the almost $10,000.

I want to be warned when I am going to be charged the interest fee of $158.  It is not a fixed date.  I pay my monthly credit card bill on the 21st of each month. I want to pay the interest fee on a fixed date for example the 15th of every month.

I simply want to be warned, that way when I use the card I know how much I actually have available. If I would have know I would transfered $160 + $158 (interest). The statement said I had $250 available and it wasn't true.

The other change I want is for the overlimit to be removed from the report in less than 30 days.

Wells Fargo is so fast in adding the overlimit to the credit report and slow in removing it. I paid rightway even before the date it was reported. The overlimit should not appear in my report anymore.  I want it updated right away.

In my humble opinion, overlimits should not be reported if its less than $100. I went over by $3.75.

I"m not sure you understand

AUTHOR: Ashley - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, August 08, 2012

how credit cards work. Why were you charged $158 interest? That would not be in the interest on a purchase just made. You are not charged interest on a new purchase until the next billing cycle. You say AVAILABLE credit.  Does that mean you had other charged on the card? Perhaps some charges that were at an introductory interest rate that expired?

If you look at your statements closely you shuold see all the rules on when rates are going to expire. They did inform you, when you signed the contract for your card. All the information is available to you. So what else was charged to your card to cause all this interest?

As for the rest, you were overlimit on your card. Why shouldn't they report you over limit?
