I purchased a $1,000.00 furnace filter on 10/06/2010. On January 8, 2011, the furnace began spewing noxious wood smelling fumes.

I called ARS Rescue Rooter to take the filter back. So far, there is no one at the company able to help me. The managers and staff speak to me once and I never hear from them again. I've written the BBB and have received no response.

I cannot heat my home without these fumes, I have no money to call anyone else in to fix the problem, and I either freezing because the house is so cold, or suffocating from the fumes.

On the plus side, I haven't seen any spiders since the furnace began malfunctioning, so I'm assuming that the furnace/filter emmisions are able to kill any bugs that wander in.

problem resolved

AUTHOR: Danita - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, February 02, 2011

After waiting several days for the furnace filter to be removed and my money back, ARS finally resolved the issue. I had to pay $169.95 for them to tell me there was nothing wrong, but they did finally remove the filter and they gave me the money back for the filter.

I also received a call from ARS asking me to write and say they fixed the problem, which I am now doing. Additionally, they asked me if I wanted to purchase a water heater cleaning. I will not call them for anything in the future, but rather work with a company that sends out technicians that fix the problems and don't sell additional services.

ARS in Aurora tried to rip me off too

I hope your problem has been solved!

ARS in Aurora told me this Monday that my furnace was unsafe and was emitting dangerous carbon monoxide levels. They tried to convince me to buy a new furnace for $3800. Fortunately I didn't sign he contract wih them. I found out from another inspection that there was no carbon monoxide in my house and the furnace problem was due to using the wrong type of filter. ARS was charging at least $1000 more than another service. For good service, call (((Redacted))). Their technician was honest with me. A friend knows the owners of Bob's and have had good service at good prices with them for years and totally trust them.

See the report I just filed here about ARS.

ARS knew that I have been unemployed a long time and have no income. They didn't care and still tried to rip me off for a new furnace I didn't need!!!

Find out if you qualify for the LEAP program which pays part of your energy bills if your income meets their guidelines. I filed via the Adams county web site. If you qualify for LEAP, you might also qualify for the federal weatherization program which entitles you to a free energy audit and may pay for new furnace or other home energy improvements.

Good luck!
