I purchased airline tickets for a roundtrip flight home from Albuquerque to Kansas City. My departure flight was routed through Denver on United Airlines but on the date of my flight a massive storm hit Denver and closed the airport down for several days. United was unable to reroute my flight for five days and were willing to refund all tickets during this period.

I purchased my tickets through Cheaptickets.com, so I had to go through them to cancel. I called cheaptickets.com and after nearly an hour of being transferred around to the same place over and over they informed me that I would have to pay $150.00 to cancel the tickets despite the fact that United was offering free cancellations on all flights through Denver at the time. My only other option was to wait the five days and get rerouted, which I wasnt willing to do.

I then decided that I would just keep the tickets and catch a ride home to Kansas City with a friend and use the original return flight to Albuquerque. This, they said, was impossible because if I didnt take the out-bound flight my return flight would be cancelled and all monies would be lost.

To make a long story short I spent over 3 hours on the phone with these people getting transferred dozens of times to people that repeated the same information over and over. At one point they said I would have to pay $20 to join the Gold Club that would allow me to talk to a representative that would be better suited to handle my situation.

They eventually let me join the Gold Club for a one time charge of $1 that would automatically renew every month at $20, but I figured Id pay the $1 if it allowed me to talk to a qualified person and then Id cancel the membership immediately. So after paying the $1 and going through the exhausting process of joining the Gold Club I was transferred to an English speaking American operator that informed me she could be of no help because my tickets were purchased through cheaptickets.com, not Cheaptickets Gold!

I ended up giving up on the situation all-together and catching a ride home and back with my friend (a seventeen hour drive both ways). The $360 ticket was a complete loss plus I was repeatedly billed for the God Membership that I cancelled immediately after making my initial $1 call.

It took me three additional calls in three different months to get them to cancel the membership and refund the unauthorized charges they made to my account. I have written management on several occasions and never received a reply.

This is by far the worst company that I have ever dealt with and they have no shame.
