This is in response to all of the rip off reports about Colorado Technical University alias CTU read this and you can find it right there on the virtual campus, link through the accounts and then on the left on the community help pages in the comments to one of the postings that or just reference my name.
- Dave Funke less than a minute agoContinued: She had researched the laws, codes, by laws etc. chapter and verse and guess what people, CTU is breaking every single one of them. Even the lenders where shocked and stated that is you students money by law and they have no rights to be holding it "hostage" or earning interest off it like that. What's CTU going to do here, pull another ENRON? That's tampering with evidence. What you all will get is a FEDERAL INDICTMENT and summons into court and I hope you enjoy your cells each and every one of you in Federal prison.

Read the link here it's mind blowing I know not the greatests accademically accurate link but it does give some insight to all of the law suits againts Career Education Corporation the current parent company of CTU online and their brick and mortar campusses after Whitman or whatever name it was sold out to the CEC. Bad move there guys. CTU honestly is a great school accademically and program wise. But fiscally, financially speaking and more your parent company is playing dirty politics with our money and go figure it's that typical mob like crap out of Chicago. Once a dirty dealer always a dirty dealer. Oh even more info one of the former or current CEO"s of the CEC was once with you guessed it Phoenix University Online. How sad that these crooks treat higher education like some lucrative money making career cough scam or scheme. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Career_Education_Corporation that's the link right there well at least one of them. Google CEC or Career Education Corporation gets sued and one case still pending was just filed this year in 2016. Where do I sign my name so I get part of the settlement or all debts cleared and forgiven? Face it current and former students our degrees ain't worth the paper they're printed on YES FACT it is a diploma/degree mill and they just do enough when the FEDS etc. bat an eye at them to keep their accredidation and Title 4 funding but as soon as those eyes are gone they are right back at it again ripping people off. Really pisses me off how they rip off our military and the GI bill.

Higher One Lawsuit & Other

Hello,
I am Lauren with Higher One and I just wanted to respond to this report and clarify a couple of important points.
Regarding the lawsuit:
- Higher One did enter into a class action for $15m and decided to settle to put it behind us. Class action lawsuits, even those without merit such as the consumer class action suit Higher One has been dealing with this year, bring with them a lengthy and costly litigation process and disrupt business – hence why Higher One settled. This settlement does NOT include an admission of wrongdoing on Higher One’s behalf. Those who were eligible would have been contacted and most of the practices the suit entails have since been eliminated. Further explanation is available at oneaccountsettlement.com.
Reagrding how Higher One makes money:
- Higher One provides much more than refund services and checking accounts.
- Campus administrators buy our Refund Management service—they are charged with a subscription fee. This does NOT come from students' checking accounts.
- We offer checking accounts to students. Despite what you might have read, less than 50% of our revenue comes from charges assessed to account holders. In reality, we get paid by merchants through what is called an “interchange fee” at the point of sale. This model is very common in banking.
Additionally, Higher One is not "holding" students' financial aid refund money; rather; Higher One disburses the money immediately upon receiving it from the college or university. The time it takes to get to the student varies depending on the refund preference the student selects. For example, a paper check will take longer to arrive than an electronic deposit.
Hope this information has been helpful and thank you for your valued feeback.
Lauren

Higher One gets sued for fraud.

Students have had enough of Higher One and their crap basically putting it simply. They're being sued to the tune of $15+ million dollars and growing. How much do you want to bet that they are owned by the same parent companies running these for profit online scams called schools. The CEC probably runs Higher One as well thus why they call it CTU Higher One. Just a thought there. But yes google it they are being sued because the students have had enough of waiting 2 weeks+ for stipend payments, all the hidden fees, being forced into accounts that they did not want etc.

This holds true especially for their "financial aid department" "student accounts" "student advising" or whatever other "departments" you wish to call them. For one if you call "technical support" or the "bookstore" for the "online campus" you get some over seas call center. Hmm. If they're actually "in the UNITED STATES" as they claim or lie to you on the phone, then what is up with the thick foreign accents? Hmm. Why does CTU aka the CEC charge us for four credit hours per course or for four credits when most of these courses when compared and cross referenced with real actual legit and honest schools even brick and mortars are only charging their students for 3 credits vs. the 4.
Could CTU and the CEC be pocketing our money? Sure seems that way. Students who haven't been there in nearly a full quarter or a half a year are still seeing charges coming up and after talking with their lenders as well, well after the alleged student has dropped out of or left CTU's online or phyiscal campuses altogether. Is this not fraud? No other school I have dealt with holds the funds aka stipend payments for 14 days. Yet CTU gives every stupid excuse in the book as to why they do it and I know for a fact as do many others that this "higher one" bank aka middle man is also in on the fraud.
We the people, the students who have had enough need to seriously contact the U.S. Dept of Ed, various state attorney generals, the main stream media, the IRS, the FCC, FTC, BBB, etc. and get these guys shut down once and for all. Brown or whatever you call it no matter what name change they've done needs to go under and we should force them to repay all of our student loans 100% and after all is said and done any moneys or damages with interest mind you that is owed we the students, former students or the fed up in general.
