Credit Acceptance Innocent Bystander is Harassed Southfield Michigan
*Consumer Comment: Listed as a Credit Reference is Serious Business...
A former roommate used Credit Acceptance to finance a car, and then moved.
He included my phone number on his credit application, and now I receive calls day and night from them looking for him. I have explained many times that He no longer lives here and to please stop calling me. Unfortunately they do not listen. Beware! Do not let your number get tied into anything with Credit Acceptance, they will not stop harassing you while looking for "them".

Listed as a Credit Reference is Serious Business...

While I can have empathy for friend Steve in GA who has received numerous phone calls about his roommate from the Creditor of an Auto loan...Credit Acceptance Corporation, I would ask what would he do if the situation were reversed?!
So his former roommate "used him" in giving up his phone # on a credit application. This is done to give the Creditor the opportunity to contact and begin tracing the now skipped auto loan customer. Having this complaint aired out on a site called the Ripoff Report is a bit of irony don't you think. A deal legally contracted between 2 parties in good faith for its execution should be adhered to! Sorry your ex-roommate listed you and your phone # as a reference. A good course of action would be to put your valid complaint about repeated phone calls from Credit Acceptance and your response in writing and mail it certified to them with any and all forwarding information that you might have for loan skipper and get the monkey formally off of your back.
Respectfully,
Don'tblame'em for trying!
