My Moving estimate was for $1,485 which included $15,000 pounds. My end total on my Discover card is $4,000 split into 3 charges!!! A deposit of $180, $3,505 for the move and a random $315 that I absolutely did not authorize! When the movers arrived (3 hrs. late) they took an inventory of our house and said it was a MUCH smaller job than anticipated. They said it was actually a typical 8,000 pound move. The simply moving representative then started adding a lot of extra charges, such as $1,200 for stairs. The contract does not state a surcharge for stairs. I don't even know what the other $1,315 is for.

I didn't know what to do since the house we were moving from was a rental and the homeowners have a new family moving into this house in a few days. I argued that the charges were a lot more than the estimate, but I didn't know how else I was going to get moved. After I saw the last charge to my credit card that I didn't authorize I started researching this company on the internet more and saw that other consumers have had low ball offers from this company and had to pay more later on.  13 complaints on this ripoffreport site!

Before I chose this company I had noticed the BBB on their website so I thought they were a reputable company. But the BBB has 19 complaints against them! I wanted to use local movers recommended by friends, but they don't work weekends so I had to use an out-of-town company. I even put a hold on my credit card so no more charges could be made and put their charges in dispute.

Tom @ Simply Moving is simply not honest

The bottom line is that if you choose this company they will find some way or another to over charge you. If it's not stairs or packing materials they will invent another way to double or triple charge your estimate. When you see multiple people have the same problems with  Simply Moving  that should tell you something!

The real story: She was asked what items were to be moved which she provided, was asked if she needed help packing anything and our packing requirements on how things "must" be packed in order for us to move them were disclosed to her on the estimate that she reserved with and agreed to those terms, she stated that she needed no help packing. Also, we were not told about the flights of stairs involved but the fees for flights of stairs were disclosed to her in writing on the estimate that she reserved with agreeing to those terms. When we showed up on the move date, we were surprised with the flights of stairs that were involved and she did not read our packing requirements on how things "must" be packed for us to move them so we had no choice but to offer a binding estimate covering the changes before doing anything. At that time, she had the option to accept our binding estimate made before loading covering the changes to the original estimate or to cancel the move and find someone else. She chose to accept our binding estimate, was moved for that price (with no damages might we add) and now after the move is done and paid for she does 3 things in the same day: 1st she calls her credit card company and says that most of the charges are invalid in an attempt to get her move done for below cost after she agreed to the binding estimate that we gave, we are fixing to get that money back because the charges were approved by her and valid. The she writes a letter to our claims department trying to push them into the corner to give her money back, and she also goes to the BBB and complains to them to try and get money back and hurt our reputation with them so it is harder for us to get more jobs in addition to what she said on here. She has no valid complaint...it is our hopes that the next time she enters into a contract with a company, she reads the paperwork involved and does not just look at the price.

What actually happened: She reserved with an estimate based on the information that she provided over the internet, when we showed up we saw that there were flights of stairs involved which we were not told about but the charge for stairs if applicable were disclosed to her before reserving (in writing) and she agreed to those terms in her own handwriting, 1st clue that they did read the paperwork and just looked at the price. 2nd point...she did not read our packing requirements on how things "must" be packed in order for us to move them but she agreed to them on our estimate. We showed up and were surprised with the packing that was needed and the flights of stairs that were involved and before we did anything we had no choice but to offer her a binding estimate including everything disclosing the changes to the original estimate. She had the option to accept our binding estimate done before loading or to cancel the move and find someone else. She chose to accept our binding estimate, was moved for that price (with no damages might we add) and after the move was done and paid for she does 3 things  in 1 day, writes a letter to our claims department trying to push them in the corner to give money back, then goes to her cc company and disputes the charge trying to get most of her money back so she can get her move done for below cost after she agreed to the binding estimate (which we are fixing to get back because all charges were authorized by her and we sent proof), and she goes to the BBB in an attempt to hurt our reputation with them so it is harder for us to get more customers. She has no valid complaint...it is our hopes that the next time she enters into a contract with a company she will read the paperwork involved and not just look at the price.
