I am trying to figure out how to remove my original report.  I spoke with the owner of the company and feel confident in removing the report, as I think we had an unfortunate situation and their attempted sale of a timeshare on Ebay was a vast departure from their normal course of business (and apparently done as a favor for a client, which I believe).  I am hoping to get the report removed soon, but in the interim would like to retract my assertion that they attempted a bait and switch with us...

Dear writer of this posting.

After explaining to you what happened and providing you proof of my story, I have decided to set the record straight regarding your posting.

We had a customer who hired us to get him out of 8 timeshares that he currently owned.  Two of his timeshares are at the Marriott Waiohai Beach Club in Koloa, Kauai.  We told him that we could get him out of all of his timeshare but two of them (the Marriotts) had value.  We told him that we could post them on Ebay for him so that he could get out of them quickly but also get money for them.  The first one sold for $8,600 to another party.  During the selling process, we had to give Marriot the First Right of Refusal and they told us that they would grant it but if we sold the other one for any less, it probably would not pass through the process.

We posted the second Marriot timeshare (the one in question) and it was awarded to the highest bidder for $6200.  Knowing that this price would not make it through the First Right of Refusal process with Marriott, I explained the situation to the buyers.  Understandably, they were upset because I was not giving them what they wanted and I was not willing to go through the process knowing that Marriott would just buy it for the $6200.  Looking back, I should have posted this timeshare for $8,000 so I will take responsibility for that error.  If this was my personal timeshare I would have sold it to the buyer, but I knew the owner would not be happy if the Marriott bought it back for $6,200.

During this process, my customer was contacted by Marriott where they offered to pay him $10,000 for each of the timeshares.  He called me and told me that he wanted to proceed with the buy back to Marriott. 

Bottom line, I want to let you know that we do not usually sell timeshares but if we do, our customer has been given full disclosure of what we are doing.  There are very few agencies that provide this service legitimately so we work very hard on providing excellent customer service to our clients.  The person who posted this was never our client but I would like to say sorry for the situation that we put you in and I hope you found a property that suits your needs.

I would also like to offer you this.  My client has offered to e-mail or talk with you personally to get this cleared up.  I would like to get this situation cleaned up so that we can continue our operation with a clean image.

Timeshares need to be looked up as a purchase and not an investment. Regardless of how timeshares are presented, they don´t perform as well as a house or stock investment. If you look around the resale market for timeshares on websites like EBay, Redweek, or TUGBBS will find that you can buy a timeshare for far less money than what the first owner purchased it for.

Timeshare fraud has been around since the timeshare idea was created, but they increase during poor economy. When times are difficult, timeshare owners are stuck with properties they can´t travel to or even afford. Desperate to recoup some money to pay for bills, they can easily become victims to scams artists pretending to be their timeshare salvation who will take upfront fees -as much as five number figures in some cases- but fail to fulfill their promise.
