I was contacted by e-mail from careers@imageemployment.com about a high paying position that I had applied for. I have been asked if I wanted to start a business and how much debt did I owe? I have also been asked to provide references and phone numbers. The light goes off in my head that this maybe a bogus business that gets information and either sells it or trys to steal your identity. I called the United States Postal Service and they did verify the PO Box in Orlando, FL. Specifically stated... the PO Box does exist under that name. I checked business licenses in Orlando, FL and they don't have a business license. The company has not provided any physical address or phone number to contact. I did contact another business in Richmond, VA which has the name of "The Career Network Inc.". The business in Richmond, VA is not "Career Network Inc."

I did see that someone from the company has answered on Rip Off Report. If they are not bogus then provide your name, physical address, phone number and the business license number under which you operate. Everyone
else in America has to have a valid business license and pay taxes.

I am thinking of making a report to the Federal Trade Commission or the IRS if I can't find out any more information

Please be careful and don't let someone rip you off.

This is the supposive HR name and address:

Hey Sharon

What so funny is that is now my Po box number.  I still receiving resumes from all over the country.  I live near the supposed brick-mortar location of "Career Crapworks" and just may pay them a visit.  Stay tuned

How do you think I feel!

AUTHOR: Michael - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, September 16, 2010

I have been receiving resumes from all over the country!  I'm currently renting the po box that apparently "Career Crapwork" used to have.  What do I do?  What is so ironic is that I'm currenly looking for employment myself.  I must say that I have received some great resume ideas. \

Add me to the list

AUTHOR: Sharon - (U.S.A.)

Add www.hourglasscareers.com to the long list of websites this company uses.

According to the FL Department of Corporations, Career Network, Inc is incorporated in Delaware (which won't give out corporate information), though their attorney can be contacted at the information below.

KRESS, KEITH E
2295 S HIAWASSEE ROAD #407
ORLANDO FL 32835

A company contact is:

ROMERO, KELLY W
6996 PIAZZA GRANDE AVE SUITE 315
ORLANDO FL 32835

According to the articles of incorporation, Career Network, Inc was started as a "Marketing and Advertising" firm. I think we can all agree this is completely true.

I looked on Yahoo's HotJobs for administrative assistant openings in the DC metro area. I will never again apply to any position where the company is kept confidential. I inputted my name, address, phone number, and email, but thankfully was not yet prompted to upload my resume. The first time they got me, I applied to an HR Assistant position and became suspicious when I had to wade through a bunch of education-furthering opportunities before I could even submit my resume for a job that may or may not exist. I have a Masters degree, so I declined, but the website did not like that answer and kept prompting me to accept more info.

Later, for another position, I wasted 15 minutes taking a "quiz" with English and Math problems, "designed to evaluate my abilities to come up with innovative solutions to everyday problems". I figured it was like the essay questions that the government asks you for, to weed out applicants who can't be bothered to spend a little more time on an opportunity, since the job was offering a bit more per hour than the average opening. It wasn't SO much money to raise a red flag; they're obviously smart in that respect.

I received an email this morning requesting I check in to let them know I was still interested in the position. I replied that they should immediately remove my name, email, and all other information gleaned from my application from their database. Fat chance. I'm waiting for the spamming to begin.

Career Network Emails

AUTHOR: Nightflier - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, March 04, 2009

To Career Network -

What is your specific street address and telephone number of your company?

I, too, have been contacted via email. For fun, I attempted to apply, but the constant advertisements were at every turn. As well, the system would not let me complete my application - continued to loop - which made me wonder if it wasn't just a scam to data-mine peoples' personal information.

If you are legitimate, please provide your full company name, parent company if one exists, specific street address, landline telephone number, and website.

If this information is not supplied, I will assume it is a scam and will also file a complaint with the FCC - who governs communications such as blast-emails.

To everyone else - if you are receiving emails (such as I did) for "clerical help" paying $18.52 an hour - trust me, it's not real. Any company who evades providing their information to you is up to no good!

#3 UPDATE Employee

Please allow me to clear up the issue

I'm sorry that you feel our recruitment practices are not meeting your needs. I'm sure this is only due to a misunderstanding of us and our business. Allow me to clear up any confusion by explaining who we are and what it is we exactly do.

Career Network is a new job board that is free to use by both job seekers and employers. Currently, there are thousands of jobs throughout the country available for application on our network of employment sites. We actively market those opportunities to individuals who have previously expressed interest in receiving employment offers. This works as a benefit for our corporate clients as we actively reach hundreds of potential applicants who had not previously been introduced to the opportunity through traditional job ads.

To keep our services free to both job seekers and employers we do offer advertising verticals on the site. However they are completely voluntary and do not in any way affect job seekers' consideration for the listed employment opportunities. We act only as an intermediary between the applicants and the hiring companies, and do not interfere with the delivery of submitted resumes for any reason. To do so would jeopardize our relationships not only with our corporate clients but our advertising partners as well.

Once those resumes are delivered, the rest of the process is solely in the hand of the employer. The decision to hire, not hire, contact, etc. is theirs alone. If they receive a large amount of resumes, they may require extra time to respond to the applicants who did not make the cut. From personal experience, I have received that letter as long as six months after I applied for a position.

We do have a contact phone number for employers listed on the employer section of our Web site. However, that will get you in contact with our account managers who have no control over the status of your application. Like I said, that decision is out of our hands. If you are having technical issues accessing the site, please use the email provided.

Furthermore, let me assure you that nothing will be done with your personal information that you do not expressly authorize. Foremost, since you are applying for a position, your resume will be transmitted to the employer who will then consider you for a job based solely on your skills and education. Beyond that, we will only connect you with our promotional partners if you agree to it during the application process.

I hope this clears up any confusion you may have regarding our Web site and our recruitment services. Please feel free to contact us with any further issues or suggestions at info@careernetwork.us.com.
