Direcway ripoff Germantown Maryland

I had the DW4000 Two Way Direcway satellite installed on April 24, 2003. I live in Jerome Idaho. The installer was from Twin Falls Idaho. Where I live, my only other alternative was dial up at a very slow speed. There is no Cable, dsl or other alternatives for me at this time.

The first 3 months, I spent on the phone with Direcway trying to resolve problems. Each call was at least 45 minutes and some calls up to 3 plus hours. Instead of being on the internet, which is why I got the satellite....I was on the phone. Not my favorite thing to do anyway.

The other problem with direcway is when you do call for service, you are lucky that you can understand the people on the other end of the phone. Most are not very good at speaking english.

My installer did come out one time to replace on of my modems, but after that, when I would call, he would tell me to call direcway. This installer at this time ( June 21, 2004) is currently out of business. He still has a phone number, which he does not answer, but if someone else answers they say they will give him a message. He does not return my calls.

I have had problems since the beginning and not only did I pay quite a bit for the satellite system, I was also paying 59.99 a month for bad service or no service at all. You are then stuck. You own this satellite ( without the promises of the company) and then try and sell it.....I went to ebay where there were several for sale and you would be lucky to get some of your money back.

The Direcway contract says that you must have the service for one year or pay a fine for closing the account early. I have had more aggrevation and grief than it is worth.

Finally on Friday June 18, 2004, I called the company and told them that I was unhappy and was cancelling my service. I unplugged, uninstalled and am now using my dial up service which is cheaper, not near as aggrevating and I am able to get online even with clouds in the sky.

Direcway is a ripoff company. If you have a cloud in the sky, you will have problems connecting and then if you are online, you will get error messages, satallite linkage errors, etc etc etc. They and the installers get their money and leave you with a mess and no way to get your money back out of them.
