Grand Canyon University GCU Terminated & Retaliation Tempe Arizona

To whom it may concern: (Plenty can support my stories as long as their identity is safe- GCU retaliates with termination!)

 I am an online Grand Canyon University employee for over a year now. I have to go into an “office” every day. I work in poor lighting, hot, sweltering heat, and non-ergonomically correct furniture. I have chronic pain in my right shoulder and back. I have to seek physical therapy and massage on a regular basis. After requesting a proper ergonomic set-up I was told I would have to wait for over a month.

While sitting in agony an enrollment counselor (EC) and I happened to come into conversation with each other. He told me that with only an associate’s degree or even less- if someone has prior experience he/she can come aboard and start making $60,000 after only two short years of service. This is the starting salary for an online Ph.D. professor. As I pondered this I was called into Courtney McGinnis’s office (She is the VP of operations- since we are not real faculty) and she told me a complaint was filed, because I did not pass a failing student. Instead of the issue being resolved by me this individual went over three or four people’s heads- there is no chain of command. A GCU online student calls his/her EC and cries that the mean, old, professor doesn’t like him/her and then I am expected to cater. I had to change grades due this policy. I was told I needed to pass students through who could not, still cannot read or write a basic sentence.

The president and CEO, Brian Mueller, talks a lot- he puts on a front and makes it seem as if GCU is the “it” place. When in reality he fails to mention his b*****d child, the online division, which brings in his biggest earnings and the college would surely fail without it and has students coming in with 1.75 gpa’s or lower. Students who failed out of basic remedial courses at the community college level are being admitted to GCU. Students online cannot write or read even a basic sentence. It is a scary world if such students graduate and are placed in actual jobs. I highly doubt it however. With these students comes Brian telling his operations team, Courtney McGinnis and Kelly Sanderson to instruct their managers- funny, I don’t remember signing up for retail, to make certain that online faculty cater and pass students on regardless of their actual grade.

Not only does the CEO practice disgusting work ethics as that above he exemplifies and radiates the essence of corruptness. I am not a Christian, however, even I know that the teachings of Jesus Christ do not include telling the world how great I am, or telling the world all the good I do, and Jesus certainly did not say other people or religions are no good- yes, even I know this.

At the all faculty back-to-school meeting last year- August 2013, Brian proudly announced how great it is to have God in our presence, because without God chaos happens and we will end up with another n**i Germany… Oh, so all the massacred Jews did not have God? He proceeded to spew lies and make up research about the women being raped there due to no God as well. Later in the month at the all employee meeting, Brian said he was excited about the new Engineering school coming to GCU, because this way we would have lots of men come to GCU to find the women in the nursing department and marry them. Oh, so my good friend who works at Intel and is in fact a manager and a woman is not smart enough? And only women are nurses? Currently at this years all employee meeting, Brian said over and over that GCU is going to educate those people- you know, the blacks and Hispanics who live in the impoverished neighborhoods and are single parents struggling. Those people who cannot afford education without GCU’s help. Those people who are having their homes sold out from under them for only pennies on the dollar? Directly afterward, Brian again mentioned the engineering men and nursing women, but he did add that GCU needed to go to India to get all the smart men to come to the school of engineering. I am greatly confused. Finally he decided to again add false research by stating the word work was in the bible 800 times… It is? Have you checked, because I did and it is half that.

Finally, today a good friend was fired, so yes I have some hatred in me, but only because she was going to leave at the end of the month- right before Labor Day and kind of stick it to them… I was also told that management held meetings to tell the others that I was fired- this is against my civil rights and I have filed with the SSC. Yes, this is a bad attitude and practice; however, I do not pretend to be someone I am not, nor do I preach hypocrisy. My friend’s reason for being fired is because she happened to take pictures in a meeting- one of many. She and many others have been doing this ever since they first arrived so they can give their students a sense of belonging to campus. They show them what campus looks like, where they go and how things operate at the main campus.  Regardless, she did not take pictures- she could not get any good shots. Today, however, she was terminated because she spoke ill of the president. She exercised her freedom of speech and said how offensive he is, how wrong he is, and how terrible the systems at GCU are. GCU has lost half of their online faculty due to micro-managing managers. Many left to go back into the classroom, taking $20,000 pay cut, because that job, that life is better than the working conditions at the online campus in Tempe. A colleague tried to meet with Brian to discuss ways to improve GCU, to help us- the online faculty and Brian told him that our job was replaceable. He could give our classes to adjuncts- we are replaceable… I would rather join al qaeda than become a Christian if people like Brian Mueller, Kelly Sanderson, Courtney McGinnis, Brandon Juarez, and Ben Vilkis are Christian. They epitomize filth, lies, and corruption.
