     IN 2014 U finished my 26th of 38 credits toward a program called: Masters in Special Education for Certified Special Educators.  At this time I chose to put my graduate program on hold.  I was pregnant with my 3rd child and very ill.  At the time I planned to return to school right after my child's birth.  However, shortly after my son was born my husband lost his job and I had to return to work in order to support my family.  Hoping I could return to my graduate program when my life was more manageable, I put my classes on hold again.  I wanted to be able to gove all of my focus to a graduate degree in order to maintain my current GPA of 4.0.  When I applied to ttrutnr to school in 2016 I was told that the graduate program I was a pat of was no longer in existance.  With only 3 classes left in until earning my masters, my entire program was gone.  I was current on my loans at this time, but could not afford to pay for all 26 past credits earned and start over with a brand new program.

     I sumitted an appeal in July of 2016.  At that time I begged the University to "grandfather" me in as they would normally do if I was a student with only 2 classes remaining attempted to return to a program after being gone for over 6 months and/or returning after a program had changed.  I was requesting special permission because i only had 3 classes remaining until earning a Masters in Special Education, with 4 credits in each class, I could not afford to start over.

     The Universities response came over 8 weeks later.  They informed me that they could not grandfather me in.  However, they would transfer 11 of my 26 credits to the new program leaving me with 6 classes prior to earning my masters.  The federal student loan office continued to charge me for ALL the credits I earned.  I asked for forbearance on my loans in order to continue to plead my case.  I was unsucessful with another attempt begging the University to reconsider.  So, I chose to continue researching other possible resolutions.  Now I am in default on my loans, I owe over $24,000.  I cannot in good faith fork over this amount of money for an education that is not being recognized.
