This company SCAMS you by saying they are going to mail you $100 in gas rebates just for trying out their company, on a 15 day trial period. The first problem is that they do not tell you that when the 15 days are up, they AUTOMATICALLY debit $100 from your checkin/savings account unless you call and cancel first. Where they get your checking/savings information from, they do not inform you, neither prior to this or when they send you the letter explaining the policy.

It's not over yet! When you call the customer service number they provide you with, it is busy about 9 tries out of 10 in a 30 minute time span. When you DO finally get through, it is automated, and you proceed through the options, and enter in the membership ID number which is on the card they send you, you are asked to verify this number with you 5-digit zip code. Well, apparently you aren't a member and therefore these numbers are invalid, and you cannot use their customer service line. So the only other way to contact them now is via mail which will not reach them in time to cancel before your account is billed $100.

It's still not over! Since you cannot use this customer service line, you cannot even use your membership,(which you just unwillingly paid $100 for because this is the same number you are given to call to recieve your roadside assistance. Not that it would help anyhow since it is almost ALWAYS busy.

Hartford Auto Club FRAUD

Hello BBB Of Florida

This company had charged my checking accoune in june of 2002.Ihad never order the service.This came about by a company by the name of ACS I had called acs and had canceled the service.thay had refunded the 199.00 i had called this hartford auto atleast a dozen time,s to no avail.this company.

Thay want personell in such as my social security# for a play back.thay had said thay did a playback on oct 24 this month is aug and thay charged my account in june of 2002 so haw can thay say i ordered this service this is plan FRAUD i i will be contacting the california Athurities in this matter along with floridas athurites also i will contact 60 minutes about this this company has defraude thousands of people there is a website at http://www.ripoffreport.com I had to close my account. the following names are contacts there that i have spoken to in the past 5 months

Through some research, I have learned quite a bit about this company. They have MANY MANY other "affiliates"/other aliases and share your informaiton with all of them.

I did finally get a hold of these people on 05/27, and when they answer their "emergency" line (1-866-849-1964) they answer as Rome Communications. I spoke with a woman, who when I asked for her name she gave me "Lovely," and said she was not authorized to give me her last name. I seriously doubt that "Lovely" is her name at all. She told me her extension number is 2706, although I have not tried to verify it.

So first of all, she claimed she could not find me in their computers, neither by my "membership number" nor by my name. Which is funny since the letter I recieved says my membership is already in force as of 05/14. S

he told me I should try back another day, that it may just be taking a while to get into their computers. I explained to her that I knew all about their scam, and that this was exactly what they claimed so that they could steal my money. I'm not sure if she was trying to help me at this point, but she did actually tell me that even if I did get it cancelled, I would have to keep checking to make sure that my account wasn't debited afterwards, because this was known to happen.

I asked her to put me through to a supervisor and she said that it would probably take a very long time, because they were all busy. I asked her if she could try it and then let me know how long it was going to be. She actually got me through to one right away, although I don't trust that he was truely a supervisor, especially since this isn't even a legit company. He of course would not give me anything other than his first name, which he claimed was "Tim." He told me that they weren't able to find me in their systems because their computers were down. LIE! I don't know how their computers could be down when just minutes before "Lovely" claimed to bey doing all these searches for my information.

Hmmmmm, interesting! He told me I could either try back annother day or Fax them (@ 1-305-891-9585) and send a letter stating my information and that I wanted to cancel, and to send it in attention to "Lovely." No, I did not try this because I had already read about them telling others to do this, and they were never cancelled and they still took their money.

At that point I headed straight down to my bank and closed my account. I have done more research on these people, as well as filed a report with the BBB.
