In December and January, we experienced some financial problems and fell behind in our mortgage. In January, HomEq starting calling us at home, work and on our cellular phone, demanding full payment. Yes, they may be doing their job, but the way they do it is with strong-arm tactics and threats. In February, we sent a total of $4100 to HomEq in an effort to bring our account current. As of this date, we owe for of March and will be able to bring the account current (including April) on the 1st.

This week we have had messages every day from HomEq. I admit that I avoid and dread these calls. I have attempted to secure e-mail addresses, direct phone extensions, and a fax number and have not been successful. Why are they unwilling to give out this information? Customers might be more willing to communicate with them since it would provide written documentation and verbal abuse would be limited. Why would anyone, including us, be willing to call them only to suffer their threats and deal with their uncaring attitudes? If we had an e-mail address, we would forward a copy of this e-mail to them.

Our monthly income is approximately $4000 per month, yet we set then $4100 in a 30-day period. When asked why we did not pay the full amount and I attempted to explain that we also had to pay our other debts, we were told that- that was OUR choice. We have expenses just like any other average American: our child's lunches, electricity, food, prescriptions, fuel, etc. We both travel in to our places of employment and when we pointed out that we need money for the cost of fuel in order to keep earning a paycheck, she did not care and again stated that was our choice. This month we are just barely surviving and do have the $400 (NONE) to send them until the end of the month. We are living on change (loose pocket coins) literally!

We have reached our limit and have filed a complaint with our state's Attorney General. If a class action suit is filed, YES, we want to be contacted. If a suit is not filed soon, then we will be pursuing legal counsel on our own. NO ONE should have to suffer from a company like this.

AS AN ASIDE: Our payments are due the first of each month. We requested that our due date be moved to the fifth of the month, allowing us time to mail our payments to them. We were told NO. They stated that we would not be charged a late fee until the 15th day, but that we would be getting a phone call on the second day of EACH MONTH so we could explain that we had mailed our payment.
