I tried earlier to post this complant but was unable to;
This is regards to the Housing Authority of Los Angeles: regarding TERMINATION,DISCLOSER OF CRIMMINAL RECORD, CRIMMINAL ACTIVITY
I had been on Section 8 for about five years. In Agust 22,2013 I went to an informal hearing. Did not have a lawyer and did not know what to expect. They presented there side, It was I did not disclose my crimminal background. When I first got on section 8 in 2009, they were under staffed and they hearded you in like cattle. Know they are better staffed and have it more organized. On my first application in 209 I had put NO for a crimminal history because there was a second part to the question if answered yes please provide dates, name,convition. That happened over ten years ago and I have changed my life around. I am disabled and I have contracted HIV in 2011. They terminated me as of September30, 2013. I had explained to them why I did what I did. I wasn't trying to hide my crimminal history I could not answer the second part of the question. When they notified me of the fraud I contacted them and asked what was up. I got on the computer for the next three day about 12 hours a day. Going to most of the sites sayng they will get your crimminal background check, everything came up N/A. Till I received an email telling where to find my crimminal history. I downloaded the information they had on the site. I sent it in and had my worker put a copy in my fill. I though that would be good enough, no after the hearing I had to wait almost a month for there discion and they terminated me. I found out they are doing this to a lot of people that really need section 8. I have gotten a lawyer know, I have 90 days to appeal my case and see a real judge. Hopefully everything will turn out the best for me or I'll be right on the streets like all the rest. That is something I am nt looking forward to.
Anyone filling out an application for HOUSING AUTHORITY, if you have a crimminal history mark yes don't worry about the second psrt of the question. If you are single (noy ever been married) mark that box, if you are married but divorced do not mark single you are divorced, if you are separated you are not single you are seperated, this is the kinda things housing is terminating peole who real need section 8 to stay from going to the street. I don't know who you have to speak to spread the word to or how you can help this injustus. If you know let me know I will report again as soon as I know something.

Hello I am in so much need of help from you I see you got terminated from section 8 Program well I did to is there any help you can give me any attorneys I see you had mr.corral I tryed to get help from legal aid in Los Angeles they did not want to help they said they only do evictions well I did not get evicted it seems like I could be put out because I can't afford a attorney so is there any advice you could give me thankyou

I got my section 8 back. I had to go to Legal aid of Santa Monica,Ca. My lawyer was Mr. Corral he resimmited my claim and within 7 days they responded witch was December 2, 2013 and he told me that they reinstated me and they should be sending me a form to fill out. Only problem they have never sent me a form to fill out. Since the first is right around the corner it looks like I am going to have to pay the full amount again, thanks to my life long partner he is helping me till I can get this whole mess straighted out. I'll keep you informed on what happens.

You lied, and yes an ommission is the same thing. As a result you like every other adult must deal with the consequences of your actions. Section 8 is perhaps one of the most abused areas of "Public Assistance" and it is good that at least it looks like they are trying to clean it up.

- What does contracting HIV in 2011 have to do with an application you filed in 2009? By the way just how did you contract it in 2011 if you turned your life around well before you filed in 2009? The question didn't say "Only answer Yes if you haven't turned your life around", it wanted to know your history...your history doesn't just go away.

- Unless you have a wrap sheet taller than a 2 story building, I would bet you know what and where you were convicted and even within a year know when you were convicted.
The fact is that there are many people who intentionally hide their criminal past and lie. As a result regardless if you are going to try and claim you didn't. You are going to be lumped in with every one of those.
Of course if you have an extensive criminal history(or were convicted of certain crimes) you know you proably would have been denined in the beginning...which is exactly the reason they are going to try and claim you submited a fraudlent application.

- Yea it may have been good enough in 2009 but not 4 years later after they caught the discrepancy. As they say that is sort of like closing the barn door after the cows ran away.
