I sent in a samsung galxy s3 to be repaired under warranty. The phone was working except the charging port did not charge. The phone was not repaired instead i received back a completly dead phone. It was working when i sent it in and they acknowledged that and even updated the software. Then they labeled it BER ( Beyond Economical Repair) due to liquid damage and sent it back completely dead. The phone never had a liquid damage, was always kept in a case, and was working prior to me sending it in. They also got dirt inside the camera lens. While I know that the phone did not have any liquid damage and this is just Samsungs Fraudulent way of getting out of its waranty  obligation, it is possible that with that kind of quality control for all I know they spilled something on it.

My repair case is 4122693550

Samsung Galaxy S III...Same problem!

AUTHOR: pkd - ()

I just filed a similar report... 2 month old Galaxy S III...charging problems...original cord wouldn't work at all...used another Galaxy S III cord, but phone continued to drain even when not being used!  Sent for repair...I was just told "no waranty" because of water damage.  My phone has only left my nightstand maybe four times...in a case...in my purse (which only holds my phone and wallet...nothing more!)  I am so upset over this!  Just wanted to let you know...if you research water damage to cell phones, you will find others with this same Samsung problem!!

Absolute Fraud.

AUTHOR: ben - ()

The response that the phone had triggered litmus papers and therefore was BER (Beyond Economical Repair) because of existing and humidity in the air can trigger it is beyond ridiculous. If it is true then that is a serious manufacturing defect and is covered under the warranty. i never used my phone is tne shower as the response suggested but i did use it outside and i know no actual water ever got in and I cant control humidity and neither can Samsung which is why they would have to design the phone that humidity in the air could not damage the phone. A phone should not get corroded merely by existing.

BUT 1) I sent in a phone under warranty that I had a right to do. I did not have to go find a local shop and pay for a repair. THE PHONE WAS WORKING WHEN I SENT IT IN but with a messed up port.

I RECEIVED BACK A BRICK. THE PHONE IS NOW COMPLETELY DEAD. ADDITIONALLY THE CAMERA LENS HAS DIRT INSIDE OF IT.

With that kind of quality control Samsung cannot be trusted at all.

Now that the phone is BER with the warranty canceled I tok it today to a shop to be examined and LO and BEHOLD the litmus paper inside the phone is clear and had not been triggered . The whole argument above WHILE TRUE is not relevant. The shop could not fix it because they said the motherboard is dead.

Samsung is merely trying to get out of its obligation of repairing the phone.

It is obvious what happened. When they got the working phone and updated the software as they said they did they messed up the update and damaged the phone. Now they are trying to get out of repairing it.

Your misinformation.

You have to understand that there are 3 litmus papers on your phone. There is one on the battery, one that can be seen by removing the battery and one on the MAIN board. Just because it was in a case doesnt mean it wasnt subjected to moisture. Even in a case, if you are in a high humidity enviroment these litmus papers WILL be triggered. Even in a case. This is what is causing YOUR issue with Samsung. Using your phone in the bathroom after a shower will do this. Talking outside in the rain will do it. There a multitude of ways your phone can be subjected to moisture. Even a small amount of moisture can and does cause corossion. It doesnt need to be fully submerged to cause damages to the internal components. So if even ONE of the litmus papers were triggered, then it falls into BER catagory. Samsung is NOT responsible for YOUR use of the phone. The how and where YOU use it is on you. Try taking your phone to a local shop that does cellphone repair. Sounds like all you needed was your plug resoldered to your board.
