I contacted Team USA Moving to broker my move between Garden Grove, California to Honolulu, Hawaii.

I spoke to a young man named Peter Demarco who estimated my household goods at 4,400 lbs at a cost of $5,455 for the entire move. I inquired about the possibility of underestimating the weight and that I'd be charged more for the move. He assured me that he added a "buffer" to each item I listed to him over the phone and via fax.

I then inquired about the weighing process and that I was afraid I could be ripped off by falsely wighing my goods. He explained to me that the weighing process involves the "Government" and that it is standard for a government official to be present at these weigh. I took his word for it and decided to hire Team USA.

He required a $800 deposit to secure the appointment thus supposidly leaving me a balance of $4655.

Peter explained that half of the deposit $400)goes to port fees, charges, fuel surcharge, etc. while the remaining $400 of the balance goes towards "packing fees and supplies". I explained to him that I would be doing about 80% of my own packing and that I'd need to movers to only pack certain big items. He told me I would not have to pay for more than what is used. I felt $400 in packing supplies were more than sufficient since I'd be packing most things myself.

Team USA brokered to job out to Classic International, Inc. The movers showed up a day late for the move (it was the day I needed to move out of the apartment, causing me to have no time to clean the apartment myself and incurring move out cleaning charges).

When the movers finshed, he gave me an invoice with an additional $340.98 for packing supplies. I told him that I'd already been charged $400 by Team USA for packing supplies and that it should have covered it. The mover told me that they never see or "get" any of the charges by Team USA and their charge is seperate.

Bottm line, I paid over $700 for packing supplies. Furthermore, they asked to me make the check out to another company name because Classic International changed it's name. Perhaps this is true, but it still seemed suspect.

I called Team USA immediately to dispute the $400 packing supply charge they got in my deposit. Peter avoided speaking to me and put a "manager" on the line. The "manager" would not refund my $400 packing supply deposit despite the fact that I explained to him that I'd been charged $340 directly from the movers. The manager did not give his name and was very rude to me. He also kept laughing over the phone because I was angry over the situation. He made comments that he had a calculator with him and that the math added up and that's what I paid for. Upset and obviously getting no where, I hung up the phone.

A few days later I got a call from Classic International claiming that my goods weighed in at over 5000 lbs and that I need to pay another $700 plus dollars in order for my goods to ship. I told them I wasn't surprised they came back to me asking for more money. I asked if they could provide proof that about how much my goods weighed and they said no. I asked about this whole "government" official who is supposed to be present documenting this information. I got no response except that I need to pay the $700 plus dollars if I wanted to stuff shipped out to Hawaii.

I paid the money(I was in no position to have my stuff held hostage with a baby and family needing stuff).

When my goods arrived in Hawaii, I needed them to be kept in public storage until my family and I moved into our new house. Assuming the truth that my goods weighed in at over 5000 lbs. I thought I'd be paying a certain amount to the storage company. The lady told me that my goods only weigh in at a little over 3000 lbs.

Overall, my move through Team USA cost me around $2,000 more than the initial quote.

Please don't get me wrong, I don't mind paying for goods, services and honest work. But when I'm paying for goods and services through lying and fraud, that's when I get upset.

I hope consumers read these reports and never use Team USA.
