This week I received a letter from Union Workers Credit Services, stating that i had been preapproved for a Platinum card membership with a $10,000 credit limit. The interest rate would be 5%. All I had to do was to send $37 to activate the card. The offer looked to good to be true, so I decided to look them up on the internet. I could not find any such credit union in Dallas, TX, nor in the surrounding Texas area. I then looked on the internet to see if I could find in information there. I was surprise to see so many complaints on this company, who received the same letter that I received. Just think, I almost sent the money, because my finances do not allow me to do much of anything for recreation.Thank God I decided to do research on the company. I have been the victim of a scam before, and was almost in a lot of trouble. That time it involved a cashier's check, and me depositing it in my bank account. The bank teller recognized the scam and called for the manager. I explained about the letter I received (and had the letter with me). the manager had me to sit while he check some things out. He returned and explained how the scam worked, and stated that I was free to go. Since that exerience, I've been hesitant to jump at offers that come through the mail, especially when I'm not associated with their organization.

Something shoud be done to the people running the scam. If you have to, go undercover, and pretend like you are one of the consumers that was sent the letter.
