I am a neophyte in the publishing industry. After speaking with Authorhouse, I was put on the impression that I was getting 25% of royalties and that is the industry standard. I found out later that it is merely 25% from profit and not from the price of the book. I was getting a pound or less from each book sold. After publishing a book, I have been contacted with numerous publishers offering me 100% profit.

I purchased 3 publishing packages for a trilogy in which I have published the first book with them while I am still working on the sequels. I spent tens of thousands of British pounds to market the first book. However, since the book is about my family history, I have decided to cancel this for personal reasons.

I requested for a refund on all marketing campaigns that they have not worked or completed yet since last year. I have been given a run around since then. I requested for a complete list of all the services that I have paid from them.

Upon receiving the list, I found out that they put some marketing services that I have paid for on my second and third book (both of which has not been started yet, thus, has no plans of marketing at the moment). Needless to say, this made me even more furious and more reasons to demand for a refund on these services and other services that I no longer need.

The first book has already been published (and recently cancelled) and I was not requesting for a refund on the services rendered. But it is just fair and just that I should be able to receive a refund for all services that has not been fulfilled. Based on the list provided by them, that should be near 40 thousand pounds.

They have been constantly contacting me by email or by phone making a follow-up if I want to publish my second and third book at present in which I have been constantly telling them that I can't publish those books anymore. Yet, everytime I ask them for a follow-up on my refund request, they have been dodging the issue and has not been responding to it for months running to a year now.
