I ordered a high school class ring from Herff Jones around 2005. Ring ordered was 10k white gold, synthetic ruby (or whatever the fake option is) and the ring I received looked the part as far as my untrained eye could tell. The 10k stamp on the inner band was reassuring. Fast forward to 09-25-2023... I go and have my ring appraised and it fails the test for gold. At this point, I havent any idea what the metal used was in the ring's construction, but, it isnt 10k white gold.
