Microsoft continuously adds without request or permission, a program called microsoft edge, an internet browser which i have deleted many times. In addition to this the company owns Skype and for the third time has blocked my password so i cant sign in to use the product. There is no way to call them and all posted numbers are now invalid.

I filed a complaint with and they wanted me to fill out an exhaustive form which i did and their reply was "that's not good enough to identify you so we need an additional form". I responded "i am not a puppet and will not play this silly game". I gave them ample info to prove i was the account holder particularly adding calling credit to be able to use Skype. Verifying the charge, bank name and amount charged should have been sufficient to very me as the owner of the account.

It is VERY OBVIOUS the intent of asking all this information is data mining/collection for resale (to china perhaps)? I asked for a refund for the remain call credit and they said they would give credit on microsoft store...which i declined. They said since i did not have a credit card associated with the microsoft account they could not issue a credit. DAH!

The credit card is linked to a skype account and since microsoft owns skype you are forced to deal with them. I called my bank and disputed the last charge on 9/15/2021 and was give a permanent credit. This is NOT the first time this company has tried crap like this and soo much more so i choose to take my business elsewhere and have filed a fraud report with FTC.

Edge is part of the OS.

AUTHOR: CARTER - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 03, 2021

Edge is a permanant part of the OS much like IE. It will be put back on with every major Feature Update. You can not fully remove EDGE you have not fully removed EDGE. When you are forced to upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 it will no longer be removable thru the methods.

Best Method is command line to get it as close to fully removed as possible. Again, Feature updates are  more like new OS installs. It is also a provisioned app. This means that every new user has to uninstall it on each account. It auto installs it when the user first logs in.

Like I said it is one of the apps that doesn't allow you to remove the provisioning component. This is due ot it having critical components in teh Windows OS.
