My Tax Prep Office swindled me into purchasing software with error and bugs Atlanta GA

I was contacted by a salesrep with Mytaxprep (MTP) office in the beginning of 2020. The man pitched Mytaxprep software claiming it to be superior to Drake Software. Due to the salesrep representation of the software, I decided to give it a try.

It was the biggest mistake of my professional life. Mytaxprep is nowhere near comparable to Drake. MTP has sent blank returns to the IRS, their calculations do not work, their data does not flow-through to the proper schedule and forms, I had to override a lot of lines which the overrides then did not flow-through to the proper schedules and forms, they have incomplete forms with pages missing, etc. I have spent countless number of hours on the phone and via email with MTP regarding error  after error with their software.

MTP offered me a free year of service when I lost a client due to a deadline and MTP wouldn't fix the issue within the deadline. I do not want a free year of this service as it has been a nightmare for me and my business. I want a refund. MTP cost me clients, revenue, time, and stress.

I recently spent 12 hours on a tax return. This morning, I sent the client a draft to review. After unlocking the return and making some minor adjustments, I reload the app. MTP then deleted 12 hours worth of work and reverted the return back to an earlier point in time when only minimal information was entered. MTP software did this the day before the deadline (October 15, 2021). I reached out to MTP about the issue where they fail to take accountability saying their software doesn't just delete data. The return I sent my client owed 53k in Federal Tax. The return MTP loaded after I refreshed the app shows my client only owes 2k which is incorrect. MTP software deleted 12 hours worth of work 1 day before the tax filing deadline.

Instead of immediately fixing the issues, MTP is arguing with me online saying it isn't their fault and they will get to it when they get to it. I have already lost business and revenue due to their negligence and error. If you value your business, DO NOT PURCHASE this software. You will be purchasing a headache and an increased amount of time on tax prep. There are several complaints against MTP which shows they do not sell an appropriate software. I wouldn't be surprised if the good reviews are paid or from family and friends. The software should not be used if you have complex returns. The developer does not even have all the pages to the forms their software supports. You will spend a lot of time going back and forth with them as opposed to focusing on your returns and business.
