After placing an ad on Kijiji, I was contacted by 411.ca a short time later. They had convinced me to sign up with no contract at a discounted price stating I would recieve something like 1000 views a month for my top ad and listing. They said that if I wanted to cancel all I had to do was give one month notice by calling or emailing the account manager.

I kept the service for about 5 months and did not notice any traffic or leads from the service so I felt it was not for me. I called the company and was placed on a never ending hold by a machine. I then emailed my account manager the cancel request but my emails started bouncing back. This manager continued to send messages from the same address. I attempted again multiple times to call with no success.

This went on for nearly 2 months when I looked for another email address and sent my cancel request to that email. Still no response. I then contacted the BBB and filed a complaint, and also my credit card company to cancel my card. It was 1 day too late as 411.ca had taken another payment.

411.ca responded to the BBB 4 days after I filed the complaint stating that they have a very active customer service and gave me the same number I called so many times before and 2 email addresses I was unaware of. Said I should put my request through those means.

At this point I wanted my money back, so I faxed the credit card company the details and emails I sent. I then tried to call 411.ca again and this time waited on hold for a long while when an answering machine finally kicked in. This was straight from hold music. I left my message stating about the issue and the BBB complaint. I then emailed one of the email addresses they assured would get results. I let them know of the situation and explained how upset I was and I wanted my money back.

I still have gotten no call back and am about to continue my report with the BBB. So as of this report, I still have their service, no refund, no call back, nothing.

I did some searching on google and found that this is common practice and it seems to happen often. There are plenty of reviews and reports of people having gone through this exact situation. One report mentions a fake bad review by an employee of 411.ca after making a big fuss to cancel, which to be fair can not be verified.

Stay away from this company, you will really regret giving them any bank or credit information. CONSUMER BEWARE!
