I was contacted by "A Solid Gold Sound" in regards to my local Craig's List Posting for "mobile DJ For Hire". I was told that their DJ was scheduled to perform at a wedding reception 3 days from the date of the call (7/152009) I originally turned then down but changed my mind because the reception was at a venue that had have good experiences with. The reception was for 5 hours but there was no mention of a ceremony (which there was) but I was able to handle. The bride was very happy and guests commented and told me what a great job i did. I waited for over a month and a half to get paid and it wasn't until I threatened NOT to perform at the 2nd reception (9/12/2009) that I did finally get paid for that event (the day before the 9/12 reception). I was contacted numerous times by "A Solid Gold Sound" via e-mail to make sure I'd been in contact with the customer and that everything was "all set" to which i replied "yes". I decided to prepare for the event (due to the delay in my payment) by printing out a document for the bride and groom to sign (which they did) stating that I was set up on time, dressed professionally and conducted myself in a courteous and professional manner. I also left a space for them to write any additional comments to which they replied "exceeded expectations" "got the feel of the crowd and picked out songs everyone could enjoy". I kept a copy of this document for my own personal records. I have made numerous calls to "A Solid Gold Sound" regarding payment for that event to which I receive nothing but excuses. I wish to pursue an investigation into this company's unethical business practices and would like to take appropriate legal action in a class action lawsuit with any other dj's/videographers or customers who have been wronged by this company and its criminal owner John Kruer.

Solid Gold Sucks

I'm in the same boat guys.
I have been contacting them for months and they have been giving me the run around.
Im from western NY and I see your from NY state as well.
Let's do something about this, obviously they have done this to several other dj's and videographers in this state.
I am owed $450.
The only time they respond to me is if I reply to their mailing list emails with a confirmation on an event.
THEY MUST GO DOWN

How to get your money

You don't need to file a class action.
Contact your state's attorney general, as well as the Attorney General in the state of Kentucky, where A Solid Gold Sound is based. They are under the name SYNCORP.
If you are owed money, retain a collection agency to get your money. It may be a discount, however, something is better than nothing.
Or, get the other people on here who have been injured to sign up with the same collection company. They will use THEIR attorney to get your money.
Collection agencies fees are completely negotiable. Find one who works on contingency.
I have used this procedure for companies who have breached their contracts; and, it is a very effective tool.
Otherwise, Mr. Kruer will continue. Since his long time DJ dispatcher quit, the company is worse than ever.
Good luck.
