AAA Countrywide Van Lines - Countrywide Van Lines 4 days late, constant no show no call ripoff Brooklyn New York

I made a $200 deposit towards moving services with a total estimate of $1,154.44. I was told that the movers would come on Wednesday, 12/7/05, or Thursday, 12/8/05, and would call me on Tuesday, 12/6/05, to let me know which date and an approximate time. I did not receive any call. I called the company on Wednesday morning (after leaving an unreturned message) and was told the movers would arrive on Thursday between 2 and 6 pm. They never arrived nor called.

I called multiple times Friday morning, again with no return calls and spoke to an agent who promised to call me back in 5 minutes. Half an hour later, I called again and was told the truck would be there at 4 pm. At 4 pm, the truck had not arrived nor had I received a call. I was assured by Megan that the truck would arrive between noon and 3 pm Saturday.

At 3 pm Saturday, the truck had not arrived and I called again. I was told it was on its way and would be there in an hour or two. I specifically asked whether the office would still be open, and was told it would. At 4:50 pm, the truck had not yet arrived or called, so I called the company. They had closed their office.

I left two messages that if the truck did not arrive by 5:30, I had to go ahead and leave town. The driver called me around 7:30 and said he was en route to my location. I informed him his services were no longer needed. Based on the time, he had not yet left for my home when I last spoke to someone in the office. This company has cost me and my father valuable time, it has cost him time off from work, an extra night in a hotel, and has significantly interferred with my ability to sell my house.

The first time I called after the no-show, Friday morning, I asked about compensation and was told "I doubt it" by someone who claimed to be a supervisor. Only once has anyone even made the slightest of apologies to me for my inconvience and expense. I had to hire another mover at twice the price, with pick up 4 days after I needed it. I have not received a call since cancelling.
