So, I was working a part time job, struggling to make ends meet when I saw this eye catching ad on Craigslist which read something along the lines of "Make 1000 to 2000 dollars a week!" Being a minimum wager, I of course was all over that like sh*t on velcro.

So I called 'em up and they set me up with an interview. The first tap on the shoulder from Mr. Conscience and Mrs. Bullsh*t detector came when I asked the owner what the turnover rate was and he'd answered- and quite hesitantly- "uh...quite high as a matter of fact..but uhh... not everyone's uh...cut out for this job...but you have upper class management written all over you...*cough*..."

Afterwards, they said to come back the next day to go with about 3 other hopefuls and watch some guy sell spa packages and not get paid for it. After the day was done, they hired myself and the others on the spot. At this point, Mr. Concscience and Mrs. Bullsh*t detector were picking out my outfit to wear the next day.

The next day, they sent us out to the next town over to sell these fabulous spa packages which included 300 dollars worth of products and services at 90% for only 47 dollars. They specifically told us to pretty much break into office buildings marked "No Soliciting", they told us to be sure to follow them straight to the bank or the bank machine, they told us to be aggressive and relentless in making a sale. After my first day, I got to thinking:

"You know, burgalers also use these tactics as well, don't they?"

The other thing that I thought was kind of interesting was that they offered you the choice of salary and commission or commission only. So after about two days of getting kicked out of malls and business, evading security guards and police officers and then coming home to discover that I had actually lost 14 bucks that day, I asked them if I could take the salary. The salary was 11 dollars an hour plus 5% of your sales. So I did the math and I think it works out to about $13.35 an hour. They said "oh, you make more money working commission only."

So then I really started to ponder...

"Hmm... You have no choice but to work commission only, your lousy joke of a trainer makes five bucks off each of your sales, you pay the gas, food and lodgings for your business trips sans reimbursment, the cops and security guards have heard of Ad Efx and frown upon them and you're encouraged to lie, badger and harass to make a sale...."

I called them up the next day to tell them that I wasn't going to work for them. They answered "I'm sorry, what did you say your name was again?"
I guess the turnover rate really was quite high after all, and for d**n good reason too.

So, the moral of the story, Ad Efx is a horrible rip off pyramide scheme. I encourage you to never purchase these salon and spa packages as- save for winning the lottery and or going out on a date with Angelina Jolie- some things really are too good to be true.

Information you are seeking

AUTHOR: Jon Himelfarb - (Canada)

POSTED: Tuesday, September 01, 2009

Cyle;

To respond to your questions, here is the contact info. you were looking for:

George Letterio President, ext. 222

Jon Himelfarb V.P. , ext. 229

We can be easily reached, as you well know, considering the amount of times you called me. Our phone number (416-512-0002) is the same one we have used since our founding in 1987. You can easily do an internet search and find us, as you are also well aware. Its amazing how after only 2 days you are able to make all of these claims. You were told how everything operated when we met, we operated exactly as was said and you decided after a very short time to end the relationship. I am also amazed that you feel that anyone owes you anything as I note that any funds that were due have been received by you. We stand behind our products and our services and methods and not one claim that you have made can be validated or substantiated. We certainly welcome any inquiries from any agencies or governing bodies and are confident that our methods of operations are not only valid and legal but have enriched both our clients and our customers. Cyle, there is no shortage of disgruntled individuals out there and thankfully there are sites such as ripoff report to air valid complaints. No one should be misled or ripped off without recourse. However, its a shame that there is no validation of claims made before they are posted but such is the case. We have operated for many, many years and the fact is that you cant please everyone. Do a search on GM, Coca Cola, McDonalds or any well known, reputable company and you find a multitude of negative reports. Again, you simply cant please everyone. Im sorry that you didnt take advantage of the opportunity and that you chose to terminate the relationship so soon before you really learned what we were all about. But you know deep in your heart that none of your claims are valid or we certainly would have had thousands of reports such as yours after over 2 decades instead of the handful that are on this site, the majority of which are from one or two obviously disgruntled individuals who make many claims but hide their names. Please contact us if you feel that you have any further problems with us, I will be happy to take your call.

Questions about company structure

AUTHOR: Cyle J - (Canada)

POSTED: Monday, July 13, 2009

Currently I'm in the middle of a number of disputes involving Ad Efx and it's lack of ethics and business morals. I've been fired illegally and am having trouble with final payments. Does anyone know the full names, positions and phone numbers for those in the Toronto office.

I have conflicting information. I've heard that Steve Boutin is the vice president.
However, I've also heard of him being labeled as the Accountant.

In another claim, Andrew Smith has been reported as the accountant and handles inquiries for the president (905-770-3026 EXT 231, Andrew@Ad-efx.com).

I'm also in need of the contact information for the John at the Toronto office. As well, is this the same Jon that sits around responding to EVERYONE's complaints?

Please post any information you may have, regarding your situation and experience. I am currently debating taking everything up with: Revenue Canada in order to have my title (employee or contractor) decided, ESA and Ministry of Labour due to the ILLEGAL actions the company prides itself upon, as well as Small Claims Court for my final payment.

Thanks for all those willing to help out.
