Like the previous poster said, if soc security or disablity is your only income it can not be garnished. You are considered "judgement proof". At your age bankruptcy would be my last choice. All they can do is call and try and make your life miserable. Put a call block on your machine and have voice mail pick up. That way you do not have to talk to them. Unfortunately Advanta has done this for many years, but since the economy issues they have stepped up this type of action of late. They closed my account many years ago and I had never been late on it. They just did not like that I had other accounts and felt I was at risk. However, it was the best thing they ever did to me, I paid it off as well as my other cards. I closed all my credit cards and no except for my house loan I have no debt. It truly was the best thing I ever did.

Don't let them bully you. Take charge and put a call block on your phone and let your machine pick up their calls. If you can not pay , you can not pay. Life is too short to let them bully you. Perhaps you can pay when you are able, but your house, utilities are more important. Good luck!

This problem could be solved by bringing back usury laws in the USA...but that would require a politically aware and involved electorate that has the ability to see beyond the smokescreen distractions thrown at them by the ruling elites....This is not going to happen.
